Excellent price, well-made, easy to install, and works great on my 2022 Prius Prime for transporting my bicycle with a hitch mount rack.

I have installed the hitch on our 2018 Prius. The video was a big help. It took me about 5 hours to install partially because I was on my back. A lift would have sped things up dramatically. A lot of time was spent trying to figure how to remove the wiring harness clips from the lower bumper fascia panel. I am not a neophyte. I have lots of tools. I have at least 10 pairs of needle nose pliers both straight and angled in various sizes. After more than an hour trying various approaches, I finally realized I could unclip them with my fingers. If l could see them, it would be easy but they are in a spot where you cant "see". It would be a big help if you spent some more time in your video on how to deal with the wiring harness. I was installing on a Prius 3 which has the proximity sensors mounted in the bumper.

Bombproof hitch. Installation was quite a challenge even though I've installed a 1.25" receiver on a different Prius before. A few tips, in no particular order: 1. The directions get driver's side and passenger side mixed up at one point. It's pretty easy to decipher though. 2. If you've never used a bolt fisher before, maybe watch a bit of YouTube on it before you start, and maybe practice fisher removal on a thin scrap of plywood before you commit. 3. Get a bunch of plastic clips in advance because you're likely to break some or all of the ones you remove. 4. You'll need to lift the car a bit, e.g. by backing it up on to a double stack of 2x6 scraps or with jack stands. 5. If you don't have a strong assistant, you'll need a jack to lift it. Because the center of gravity is behind the receiver, you'll also need to slide a strong metal or wood bar/pipe/rod through the receiver hole and a few inches back so you have something to balance on your jack. 6. Safety glasses for all the dirt that will rain down. 7. An extra car or way to get to the hardware store for the tool you're missing.

(2013 Prius Three, self-installed) The HITCH itself is incredible, and great quality. It's a strong performer. If you have a Prius and are doing a self-install, for the love of god just get a Class 1 hitch that's smaller and doesn't have the added bolt holes and wings to attach to the frame. Installation was a bitch, and I found myself regretting my sturdier choice for the Class 2 hitch while I was trying to install. Now, mind you, I used ramps at home in my garage, and did it mostly on my own, not a lift nor a team of people installing. It's heavy -- which means strong for the tow -- so trying to finagle it while tearing apart the underbelly of the Prius was just annoying as hell. Having to cut apart the rainshield/splash shield to even access the places that it needed to go in at the weird angles while holding this heavy chunk of metal up is trying on the patience and determination. I even wound up finagling THREE different jack stands to support parts of it while I attempted to maneuver the thing in, while fighting off the car's rain shield and such. Not to mention, it takes up so much space, being so beefy and strong, that it more or less disfigures the entire bumper and presses the side fender or bumper out in weird ways unless you have 10 times more patience to deal with the added body work to address it being SUCH a *TIGHT* fit, that you have to fight against the whole while. Again, the product *itself* is phenomenal and deserves great reviews. Just don't try to self-install at home on ramps if you've got a Prius, or you'll wind up wishing you had just bought a simpler, lighter, easier to install Class 1 hitch instead. And hopefully the smaller size of the Class 1 won't disfigure your back end.

Great trailer hitch for my 2017 Prius! Put it on today and it is perfect for my Thule Epos 2 bike rack. The installation video was a tremendous help! Trailer hitch went on without any problems, thank you so much for the great installation video. After watching it, it gave me the knowledge and confidence to install the hitch myself.

excellent product. fit perfectly onto my 2017 prius prime. this installation in not for the inexperienced to install. requires knowledge, experience and appropriate tools for removing and reinserting the plastic push pins securing then numerous undercarriage plastic panels which need to be removed. Two to three hours installation if prior experience. david

does not fit at all, i will have to bend several pieces of metal and push my muffler down to make it fit. Don't believe them when they say it will fit your car, they said it would fit my 2008 prius and lied.

Great hitch which tucks under the rear bumper. Only the receiver is visible which I appreciate. Installation was fairly straightforward.

This hitch was perfect for my Toyota Prius. It was easy to install due to the clear instructions and video.

On a 2022 Prius Nightshade eAWD. The trailer hitch looks like a factory install, neat, tidy and only the receiver attachment is visible. We mainly plan to use it with our bike attachment but may tow our small utility trailer around town for light towing. Our local muffler shop installed it with out removing the bumper cover. He ingeniously was able to bend the tabs by pressing them in using a piece of sheet metal and a clamp. Install was only $xxx.

Awesome trailer hitch for my prius v! Installed in about 15 minutes. No problems.

This is an excellent hitch. It bolts to Prius with not too much difficulty and is mostly hidden behind the bumper. The main reason I like it so much is that it is a full size class III hitch which can be used with the majority of bike racks and other hitch accessories. I also use it to pull a small utility trailer. Who needs a gas guzzling pickup truck?

Product arrived on time and online videos were very helpful. I got some Rhino ramps to raise the back of my 2012 Toyota Prius C and got the job done in 30 minutes.

Ordered a hitch for our Prius C so we could install a nice bike rack. Rack arrived in 2 days, and installation was done in under 15 minutes after watching the instructional video before we ordered. I'm a Mercedes-Benz technician, so I have access to a lift and all my tools. Even for an amateur in their driveway, this install would take maybe 30 minutes with some basic tools and no experience. Highly recommend Etrailer if you need to get a hitch for your car or truck.

I installed this a year ago and it's been great. I mostly use it for a bike rack and it's done fine with 75 lb of bike. It didn't fit correctly when I got it (manufacturing defect), but support was great and got me some spacers that made it fit.

Sturdy construction. Never had a problem with it. Would buy again.

A 19 mm socket is required not listed on the installation paperwork also the muffler has to be lowered from the passenger side holder it went on well the holes were aligned accurately a 19 mm wrench is needed for the canister bolt

I went from zero hitches to exactly one hitch using this direct bolt-on Class-II hitch from etrailer!!!! Now I can rock my shins on it when I'm not paying attention and also tow things. If you want to tow stuff, 11 out of 10 people recommend having a hitch on the car to do so. eTrailer has these, and sells them to the general public. Buy one. Do it now.

Perfectly respectable hitch with excellent installation instructions and installation hardware

Video demonstration from website was very easy to follow. Overall install was very quick, took about 50 min to complete. Product seems to be very solid and stoked to have installed it on my 2012 Nissan Leaf.

First I would to say thanks again too Carol C for reaching out concerning questions I had about the hitch I ordered. < customer service is excellent > I have a 2017 Kia Soul that I bought last month, the idea of reclining the back seats and removing my front wheel doesn’t work for me. I ride mountain bike here in Puerto Rico 4 to 5 times a week. The etrailer hitch’s bolt up super easy, had one on my 07 Subaru STI and BMW X3. I’m giving 5 stars because the installation instructions, design and finish is top notch. I have a Thule T2 Classic bike rack - 1.25 for two bikes. There was some concern that the hitch end was not long enough, bike rack has a 1.5 inches of clearance between rear bumper and bike rack, no problems. I recommend etrailer for all your receiver hitch needs.

I have a small utility trailer that I use for many projects around the house and lost my pick up (with hitch) when my grandson turned 16 (birthday present). I have been looking for a new trailer hitch for my Kia Soul for several weeks. I could not find the correct hitch in stock any where in town. Finally I went to etrailer.com found the correct hitch. It was ordered and received really fast. I am sure impressed with the service of etrailer.com. I was thoroughly kept informed of the status of my order and even checked to make sure it was delivered when stated. The hitch is beefy and the welds look strong. All bolt holes lined up nicely with the threaded holes in the truck frame, once a fitment issue (see below) was resolved. Very nice powder coating too. A few things caused me to delete a star: 1) the hitch didn't fit at first, because both end plates were bent inward so it wouldn't fit around the frame rails. It was about 1/2" too short. I used a pipe clamp with a 4' section of pipe as a lever to straighten the end plates, then the hitch fit the frame rails snugly and all holes lined up. See photos. 2) The bumper bracket shims that compensate for the end plate thickness are not the same thickness as the end plates! End plates appear to be 1/4" thick, shims are maybe 3/16". Strange, and something (either the bumper, or its mounting brackets) will bend when tightening up the bolts. Why aren't the shims the correct thickness? 3) With the hitch in place the shims are very difficult to install - there's no room for your hands. I finally got it done, but I wish the instructions had recommended installing the shims first, that would have been much easier. But both the printed instructions and the instructional videos show them going in last. I don't see any reason that you must install the shims after the hitch, but I could be wrong. Oh well I got them in, after some vague obscenities - live and learn. 4) Packing was marginal. The box was partially blown out where the receiver section of the hitch pressed against it. No damage in this case, but better packaging might be a good idea. Other than those complaints I'm quite satisfied with the hitch, it looks good and appears to be very strong - in fact its capacity of 5000lbs is greater than my Tacoma at 3500lbs. Nice product.

Things that I liked about this product, 1) very nice workmanship, well made. 2) installation very straight forward, no issues. Things that I didn't like, 1) Such a nice product finished with powder coating. It may look nice, but it does not last. Paint holds up so much better. 2) No bracket for the trailer lights connector. The original had a mount welded in place. Kurt states no welding, no drilling on new hitch. Toyota has an odd plug that is larger than other standard ones. Ended up fabricating a mount bracket of my own, which = time. I would buy this product again if necessary, e-trailer is great to deal with and none of the problems were of their doings

With e-trailer it is easy to find what I need for towing. The Curt trailer hitch is solidly constructed and moderately easy to install. DIYers should be prepared to use a Dremel or similar tool to slightly notch out one hole on either side to be able to insert the backing plates and bolt heads.

Product arrived quickly (two days). Hitch is well made and bolts right up to our 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness. Enlargement of the forward two holes on the car is required to get the bolts and backing plates into position. Easily done with Dremel tool. I would have given 5 stars except that the hitch busted through the box in three places during transport and knocked the paint off in several spots on the hitch. I don't understand why the ends of the hitch are not wrapped with bubble wrap or cardboard. The hitch would still easily fit into the box and prevent this sort of unnecessary damage. Instead, I had to spend and extra hour sanding 5-6 dings, cleaning and painting (two coats) to prevent rust on the exposed bare metal. Touch-up paint was an extra $12 at the automotive shop. Come on etrailer, wrap the ends/edges of the hitches. Others have mentioned the same issue in their reviews.
