24x60 Reese Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs
Desperately needed a cargo carrier for camping in my F-150 Super Crew, and did a ton of internet research before buying. I have to say first off that this is one of the biggest carriers available, both in width @ 60" (foremost) and depth, and total weight capacity is excellent at 500 LB's. When you begin looking, what you'll notice right away is that carriers with brand names, and in smaller form factors are between $300 to $700! While I don't claim to be an expert on cargo carriers, I'm sorry but I don't want to spend that much money on something that you stack ice chests and cargo boxes on. I want to spend $$ on camping equipment that I have to have for my trips..... Further to this, I would say that the quality of construction on this carrier is excellent. The welds are very good, and the gauge of steel used (frame) and quality of the powder coat finish are perfect. They also can supply (option)a regular (bulbs) or led tail light kit (more expensive) for the carrier which in my opinion is a must. The tail light kit is superb and fits the oval openings perfectly with the supplied rubber inserts. The wiring harness supplied fits the lights well, however, as noted in other internet reviews is not of adequate length to reach some harnesses. My truck is already outfitted with a tow package, so all I had to do was hit the auto parts store and purchase an 48" extension. No big deal, and only costs around $5. Assembly was very easy. The Carrier comes in two halves, and the unit is joined at the center (floor level) by a very robust 2" receiver bar that has a height offset to keep the carrier higher off the ground. Three large bolts go through the carrier halves and through the bar using locking nuts, and then four smaller bolts, both leading edge and trailing edge (center) connect the top half of the carrier. While the smaller bolts come with washers, the big bolts on the bottom do not. I would strongly recommend that you purchase some large washers for the bottom bolts as well. Again, not a big expense, and they will help with wear and tear on the bar and frame. Weight of the assembled unit is significant, so plan on having someone there to help you put it in the hitch. Why pull your back out trying to do it solo. :) I'd guesstimate that the carrier weighs about 60+ LB's. One other item to note is that the height of your cargo in the carrier may cover your license plate on the rear of the vehicle, so it would be a good idea to mount a license plate frame on the carrier so that you can move your plate to the carrier instead, that way it will be visible. They also make a cargo bag for this carrier, which looked good, ballistic nylon I believe. I didn't need it because I won't be putting anything on the carrier that can't get wet in a storm, etc. In summary, for the money, I don't feel you can beat this carrier. BTW - Your unit will likely arrive with the outer cardboard totally destroyed, as they don't use very robust exterior packaging, however, your internals should be fine as they are zip tied to the carrier frame, and the corners of the carrier are protected by very thick foam. Mine arrived with the outer cardboard trashed, but the carrier and parts inside were just fine. First trip with the carrier will be in a couple weeks, so once I have road tested it I will update the review.
Guy next door called and said there was a box outside my Garage. Didn't want it to get snowed on. I went and got it. The box was broken open at one side/end, and the spacers fell out. No damage to the product. I got it assembled in and hour. (minus lights). While the instructions do not call for glue around the lights; I'm thinking I might want to put some glue around the edge to better secure them. Happy so far. A little heavy to manuver for only one person, but fits my hitch. Thanks for your followup. Lyle

20x59 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - Folding - 500 lbs
Just got back from 8 days of traveling, using this product. I really liked that it gave you room to be able to open hatch with no problems of clearance issues, while loaded.
ALL LOOKS GOOD

17x46 Curt Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs
I am using this on a 2012 Toyota Prius. I have it paired with a Curt 1 1/4 inch hitch C11276. Overall, this is a fair addition for this vehicle. It carries a good amount of weight, and is sturdy and well made. The only drawback is how low to the ground it sits when used with the Prius. There is very little clearance between the bottom of the carrier and the ground when loaded. I need to be very careful when going from a flat onto an incline, or over speed bumps. I have had scraping several times, even when going slowly and carefully. I will be replacing this carrier with a raised shank model in the near future to alleviate this situation. If you're considering this carrier for a Gen III Prius, I would suggest you look at the model with the raised shank (C18100 - https://www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Cargo-Carrier/Curt/C18110.html) you'll get an extra few inches under the rear edge of the carrier, and it will make you happy!
Looks like a good cargo carrier. Put it together last night. A few small issues: (1) picture on outside of box shows bolts...nut on bottom vs top) different from instructions (2) cannot assemble per instructions...not hard to figure out, but following instruction steps will not work (3) web site says max distance from center of hitch pin hole to closest edge of carrier is 6 inches; it is actually 5 1/2 and I needed to flex carrier frame a bit to make it work (4) with paint on the hitch, would not go into the 1 1/4 van hitch; had to take paint off. Details...but room for some small improvements to make customer life easier.

24x60 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs
The product "looks" good but make sure you read ALL the details; the critical piece of information I found AFTER delivery, assembly, and unsuccessful attempt to mount on my 2006 Liberty is the minimum clearance from pin hole to front edge of basket - this info is located on the second or third page after drilling on more information; don't trust what the pictures show you - a vehicle with spare on the back could be for a different carrier. One of the web page features is to enter your specific vehicle - don't trust that to give you the correct products that will fit your vehicle. So the additional fees and charges to return make the fantastic savings disappear.
Received everything fast, website was easy to use with everything i needed and great installation videos.

Curt Roof Mounted Cargo Basket - 41-1/2" Long x 37" Wide x 4" Deep - 150 lbs
Very durable basket, and fairly easy to install. It's definitely transformed the look and practicality of our little SUV.
I am very pleased with the quality for the price.Just the right size for my 2017 Chevy Trax.the "U" bolts that are used to clamp the basket to the roof cross bars were a bit long so I cut them shorter & installed rubber caps on top of each stud. This keeps the studs from damaging items in the bssket.See pictures.

19x60 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Aluminum - Folding - 500 lbs
Cargo carrier arrived promptly, and with great customer service support via email. Not hard to put together, but the instructions could have been clearer. Surprisingly light, but seems sturdy enough, however, it hasn't been used yet. I was concerned that there wouldn't be enough clearance between the vehicle and the edge when folded, but this doesn't seem to be an issue. I bought some reflective tape for the corners to enhance safety. An overall sound investment that I expect to get many years of use from.
I would give this product 5 stars but I just put it together and haven't used it yet. However assembly was a breeze. It took just 35 minutes to assemble. The fit in the receiver was good and when in the folded position there is plenty of clearance. The only thing I did was add 4 reflectors for visibility amber on the sides and red on the back edge. I mainly bought this for hauling 5 gallon fuel cans and hauling harvested deer.

Yakima RocketBox Pro 14 Rooftop Cargo Box - 14 cu ft - Black
I've taken one 1500 mile trip so far with the Yakima RocketBox Pro 14 mounted on my RAV4. I found the box to be quiet and not to have much impact on gas mileage. I lost maybe 1 mpg with it mounted to my flush mounted Whisperbars. I drove through some very heavy rain and had a minimal amount of water inside under a thin rubber mat I had placed on the bottom of the box; none on my luggage got wet. This box works great to give me more carrying capacity when traveling with my two crated Dobermans.
Pretty good. The locking mech is a little funky but it swallows the beach chairs and other sandy stuff no problem. Make sure you watch the videos Yakima has on YouTube. They are very helpful for first timers. I found that if you use the Yakima website to get the part list right you can order wherever you want. Yup can even pull into the garage. My only gripe is that etrailer showed all parts in stock but several pieces were actually back ordered. Luckily everything arrived in time for my trip.

Rhino-Rack Roof Mounted Steel Cargo Basket - 47" Long x 35" Wide - 165 lbs
Greetings, I am giving these items 3? Because I was offered alternative products that did not fit together. Originally, I intended to purchase a roof rack cargo basket type and a spare tire holder from Yakima manufacturer that go well together, but one of them wasn’t in stock. So, after 3 weeks waiting time, I was offered alternative items via etrailer website, and I accepted them…after all, they are the experts. I got the recommended items through UPS, then I assembled them by myself. The roof rack cargo basket fit well on my car, but the spare tire holder was not compatible with the roof rack cargo basket. They couldn’t be assembled together. I submitted my claim to return the spare tire holder. Now, I have not achieved my goal to carry my spare tire. Understanding the needs and expectations of your customers is critical to maximize customer satisfaction. I am sure both products are good, but they are not compatible together, even though they were manufactured by the same company. Distributors should know better! I returned one item and I hope to be refunded.
Great product. Easily puts together and I was able to install on our 2016 Toyota Highlander OEM roof rails with no problems. The mounting brackets slide to make for a easy fit. Have taken it on two long road trips with zero issues last summer one to the montains and one to the beach. Was able to fit our jogging stroller on in the basket. Had some heavy rain on one trip and seen no signs of water getting into the rails as that was a concern of mine when researching the different racks. The high sides allowed for easy tie downs for the weather bag we put the stroller in. Seemed to add a little road noise with nothing in it but that is to be expected when hauling things on the roof but the wind deflector seemed to keep the noise down. Easy to put on and off with a single person able to lift it. Great product, great fit for the car. Plan on using it for some more upcoming trips.

Rhino-Rack Roof Mounted Steel Cargo Basket - 57" Long x 42" Wide - 165 lbs
Great product. Great quality. Instructions not real clear, so took me a couple of hours to assemble. Then another 15-20 minutes to secure to roof racks. I was working alone, extra hands would have helped. But extremely happy with quality and looks of product. We have lots of family that visit us, so I plan to carry luggage on the rack to free up space inside the vehicle on trips to and from the airport.
Love it! It's big enough to fit a bike carrier and a cargo bag on top of my MINI. Easy to assemble and install, solid construction. Great value for your money. If I have a gripe it's that the wind fairing on the front is VERY thin/fragile. I caught it with my bike tire when loading one day and the corner snapped right off like nothing. It's only about $XXX for the replacement.

Thule Pulse Large Rooftop Cargo Box - 16 cu ft - Matte Black
This was purchased off of the etrailer.com website as a "damaged" item at a significantly reduced price. The description on the website described the damage very well and the cargo box has no functional issues of any kind. Also, the cargo box arrived much earlier than I anticipated. Furthermore, when I noticed that the box arrived with the load securing straps missing I emailed etrailer customer support and they had Thule send me two new ones right away. Couldn't be more pleased with etrailer and this cargo box. It fits my 2014 Honda CRV with factory crossbars with just a little bit of rear hatch interference (restricts opening by maybe an inch or two, but can still fully use the rear hatch). Can't speak to durability quite yet as I've only used the cargo box a few times to transport skis and snowboard and plan to use it year-round for road trips. A really great, simple cargo box!
This was a much needed addition for a drive back to Tucson, AZ from a three month stay in Portland. ME, as we had acquired some extra things and needed more space than our 2015 Honda CRV provided. This fit on top of the rhino vortex aero roof rack I also purchased from e-trailer perfectly. The cargo box functioned as expected, and although we ultimately could have used a slightly larger cargo box, this one worked great for giving us extra space in our car for the drive home. It was easy to mount and opened easily, although it was a bit tricky to load, a step ladder would have helped. It was tough to close, we had to move some stuff around to get it to latch, but I appreciated that it would not lock unless the latches could fully engage, which made me feel like it was going to remain closed while traveling. We wasted no time putting stickers on it, and added more along the drive home, which was fun. We traveled through many different types of weather, it was late spring and was rainy in the beginning of our trip, and very hot towards the end of our trip, and the contents were in perfect condition when we arrived home. There was zero water damage inside, and nothing was damaged from being in the heat. Of course there was some reduced gas mileage and added road noise when traveling, but nothing too unbearable. Also, service and shipping from etrailer was excellent.

Rhino-Rack Zenith MasterFit Rooftop Cargo Box - 14 cu ft - High Gloss Black
This was a great experience from start to finish. etrailer: After placing the order, I called regarding shipping and quickly got the answer to my question. The box shipped by ground freight, and arrived almost a week before the original scheduled delivery date. The Rhino arrived perfect with protective wrap, and all the required parts. Rhino Rack: This thing is awesome. Unless you jump up into the $1000+ price point, your rooftop carrier options are limited. My two requirements were to fit my skis (181 & 183 cm) and to allow my tailgate to open fully. The Rhino delivered! Bonus that both baby strollers fit as well (Instep baby trailer and Vista Uppababy). Only a week in, but so far the Rhino box and MasterFit clamps seem solid. The ratchet/locking mechanism on the clamps is just ok, you don't have to twist too hard to over power the lock or feel like you are stripping something internally. The hinges are beefy, but don't take up a ton of storage space. It opens from both sides, and you can't remove the key unless it's locked, which is nice for those of us that don't enjoy picking up our stuff on the highway. Also, if you're like me and spent way too much time on mr-box.com, you'll be pleased to know that this thing doesn't look lame. It's pretty sleek, somewhat low profile, with a touch of Euro. It's not too wide, even on the narrow rails of the A4 Allroad there's extra bar space. I could probably squeeze an upright kayak rack, small ski pinchers, or for the ten of us in the world that own RoadShowers...the RoadShower 4 fits no problem. I definitely recommend a Rhino from etrailer.
Application = 2021 Subaru WRX Base. Perfectly functional, and a great look.

Thule Canyon XT Roof Cargo Basket - Steel - 69" x 40" x 6" - 150 lbs
I’ve got several 1400+ mile trips with this on both a 2017 4Runner and a 2023 Kia Sportage. The basket is well made, easy to install, very solid and so far rust free.

24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - Tilting - Folding - 500 lbs
Super disappointed in this etrailer purchase. The product came in a large box that was fully intact and not damaged. The actual cargo basket was meticulously wrapped and appeared to be brand new as expected. The other components however, like the arm, were in boxes that were smashed, old, worn, and had multiple layers of old tape. The arm itself was scratched and banged up, even rusty in spots. Clearly it was used or had been a returned item. If I wanted a dented, gouged, and rusty Cargo Carrier I would have purchased one used, for half the price. This is not the quality I expect from etrailer.. I have purchased many racks and other items from this company and usually the quality is outstanding. This time they dropped the ball. I have since read other reviews and it is apparent that this is not an isolated incident. I'd have sent it back if it wasn't so damn heavy and awkward to lug around.
This carrier worked out great. The tilt down feature is helpful to have but I didn't really need it. However, the fold up feature was helpful when driving around, so I recommend that as a convenience. The only thing I had trouble with was the hitch bolt. I have a Thule bike rack that I've used with my truck hitch receiver and never had a problem, but this rack's hitch bolt was a real pain to get in at first. Don't be dismayed. With the rack off of the vehicle, I used some WD-40 and some lithium grease on the bolt and then used an adjustable wrench to screw it in and out a number of times. I noticed a bunch of either paint or metal shards gumming up the threads on the bolt each time I removed it. After about 5 times of screwing it in and out, wiping off the bolt with a towel, adding some more grease once in a while, it got to the point that I could screw it in and out by hand pretty easily. Problem solved. I'm really happy with this rack. It fit two big coolers of food and beer plus beach umbrellas and other stuff. It's really strong and sturdy. The biggest issue was not the weight on the rack, but whether the rear suspension on the Highlander could hold it with our other junk in the back plus passengers. :-)

23x47 Carpod Walled Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - 4" Rise - Folding - 450 lbs
Iam rating it as such because I have only tested it without any cargo on a 30 min drive. It was ok considering the help of the anti-rattle and anti-tilt that I also used. The real test really will be putting some cargo in it.I noticed that there was a lock nut or washer missing at the base which made one of the bolts loose;likewise there was only place to put a lock( do not know why the locks came in pairs?)Overall,I think this will work for me.As for the anti-tilt that I purchased, I noticed that the 2 bolts on the side really are only barely touching the bar,I think the holes were not properly placed ,so when you tighten them, they will only tighten the edge of the bar.The shipping was super fast! It felt like it just came a few miles from my house, however I noticed that the packaging was messed up and torn so it was just taped up;it really looked like it was an old stock from the warehouse. The customer service was awesome and will probably order from this site again. Thanks!
After purchasing a 2018 Honda CR-V Touring, my honey-to-do-task of having to bring trash to the dump every week must be done. I am not a big fan of placing trash inside my new car, despite having a rubber liner. So I purchased the Curt 2 inch receiver hitch and had it installed by my local mechanic. I did not want to have to hook up my small utility trailer to go to the dump since I have to go to work and park in a parking garage after making my trash drop off. I came across this Carpod M2205 walled carrier. I am thrilled with this and like the way it folds up when not in use. There was a simple assembly process to go through after it was received (quick shipping by the way). It is a little heavy placing into the hitch receiver, but note it is easier to place it into the hitch when folded up. I wrapped a piece of duct tape around the exact place of the insertion bar to line up the holes of the hitch pin. Its carrying capacity is well within what I need, and I am quite impressed. There is not much movement of the carrier while driving except for big bumps or potholes. This is an excellent alternative to carrying household garbage inside my new car. The walls are held in place with metal pins and a strap, that is a little short and could be a little bit longer. That would be my only complaint about using this car carrier. Otherwise, I highly recommend this for anyone who needs to carry items outside or to need more space.
What our customers are saying:
"The trailer hitch mounted cargo carrier is an outstanding accessory. It allowed us to bring so much more on vacation. The side rails made securing things really easy and the auxiliary taillight kit plugged right into my plug. The service was so great that I just ordered a trailer hitch cover for the winter. Thanks!"
