This hitch extension was exactly what I needed. New hitch on the Toyota Avalon has the receiver box a little too far under the bumper to fit my bike carrier. The diagonal support on the carrier didn't allow hitch pins to align without modifying (cutting) bumper. This extension was a simple yet effective solution to moving the carrier away from rear of vehicle. (Photos were taken without hitch pin in place) The item was in stock and shipped rapidly. Product quality is fine, however, tried to use with an ebike rack on upper hitch and flat tow hitch on bottom. Vehicle sway at highway speeds was too much, and I found bike rack on back of the towed Jeep was better.

I have a Can Am Defender and the actual hitch is up under the back end so when I hooked up a trailer, I couldn't raise or lower the trailer without the crank handle hitting the tail gate, now I have plenty clearance and I love it.

I recently had a hitch installed on my car. Since the cargo carrier that I have was used previously without an adapter, I assumed that I didn't need one. Now trying to locate one was more of an effort than locating a hitch. The local auto parts stores of national brands don't keep them in stock. One store made an inquiry but didn't give me much hope. Now I can make a rode trip in confidence that the carrier will be secure as I head down the interstate.

I installed a hide away hitch on my son's Mustang (College kid, cramping his style), Wayne really helped me with this 10 inch extender. The part came the next day. Excellent part and excellent service.

I use the extender on my bike rack so I can access my tailgate and truck bed with the rack on. It does what it supposed to do and looks barely used although I travel to trails twice a week.

I have included some photos of the hitch extension. The first two are just on my truck without and with the extension. Without the extension, note the proximity of bike handlebars to the tailgate. In the second photo with the extension, the handlebars are much removed from the tailgate. Note that this is a ¾ ton truck with an insert in the receiver. With the insert in place, the front holes of extension did not align with the receiver. It was short 1/8 to 3/16 inch. If needed, I could solve this issue with a smaller bolt. The next photos are without and with the extension in the receiver of our RV. With the cover on RV the dramatic effect of extension is not so obvious. In the first photo without the extension, the handlebars of bike literally contact the back of RV. In contrast in the second photo, the handlebars are 5 to 6 inches from the back of the RV. Though there are no road trips yet, I am confident that the hitch extension will protect the bike and importantly will protect the back of the RV. I hope that these comments and photos are useful to you. If no, I can try again in spring when we remove cover from the RV.
