I bought this hitch based on reviews and price. I was pleased upon inspecting the product and instructions. I bought a 5th wheel camper and traveled from North Carolina to New York without a "hitch". My first time towing a 5th wheel and once I got over my jitters, I drove like the trailer wasn't there. The installation kit was installed by my mechanic. So far everything has worked out great. The hitch was received quickly and the assembly was very easy, with directions very clear. The hitch installed into the existing rails as the person who helped me said thy would. I have not yet hooked up to my 5th wheel because it is in storage for the winter but as easy as it works I have no doubt it will work great.

We have the turning point pin on our rig so we had to get a wedge. I don't know if it was the wedge or the hitch but unless we were perfectly straight and level, we couldn't hitch up. Same with unhitching. After the 3rd time of not being able to unhitch without taking the entire head of the hitch off, we locked up the turning point and got a new hitch and do not use a wedge. Also, with only a bar going across, the pin seemed to wiggle around a lot.

Putting the hitch together was easy following the instructions, it seems to be was built...time will tell. I only used the hitch one time for only a 60 mile tow...hitching and unhitching was a breeze

I ordered fifth wheel Rails, hitch, a tailgate, and trailer wiring harness for my 2009 Tundra. etrailer provided excellent service and products. Web site pictures, videos and info were superb. In the course of ordering these items I was helped by several staff persons; all of whom were polite, knowledgeable and most helpful. Over several years, etrailer has helped me with a variety of items for a couple of RVs. Always a great experience. They have the eq, they know about it, and they follow through. After my eq is installed, and I have used it, I will review again and send pictures.

They advertise you can be within 3” of hitch and still connect I found that you need to be almost perfect. And to latch and unlatch there can’t be any pressure going up or weight going down, you have about a 1/4” to play with. I found it to be rougher when pulling than a normal fifth wheel hitch. It is very light though.

Just received yesterday, will be having it installed on Monday and will be pulling my new camper home next Saturday. Will update afterwards with pics

Finally got my new B&W Companion Gooseneck to 5th wheel hitch installed in the bed of my 2024 Ford F250 Lariat. While I have not pulled my fifth wheel yet, I have hooked up to check clearances, etc. first thing I noticed was how easy hooking up and unhooking was with this witch. This hitch is solid and I look forward to many miles traveling with it. My truck has 6.7 foot bed and in the picture I will send you will notice I still had room for a 43 gallon auxiliary fuel tank. Thanks to etrailer for their help with purchase.

I wanted to be able to easily utilize my truck bed and this hitch provides that in spades! Easy to remove and install. I absolutely have to give a shout out to Paula on customer service. She was amazing! My first shipment was damaged and missing a vital part. Paula had another one shipped right away and made my return shipment a breeze. She stayed in contact with me to the end. I felt like she shared in my joy once the install was complete! The hitch is super adjustable for optimal placement in the bed and height of the trailer. Make a few quick measurements and it just goes together quickly. Love the dual jaw release lever. Our last 5th wheel hitch had the standard pull to release lever and it was often very difficult to operate. This lever style is a game changer. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with the product and customer service!

Love how this comes apart making it EASY to remove from truck bed and re-install. Easy to assemble with standard hand tools and torque wrench. When the snow clears here in Montana I will THEN hookup the 5th wheel to the hitch. By the end of camping season 2025 I will return to provide an update. Photos show one box (hitch head) that UPS delivered promptly without damage. The other box (hitch base) UPS took on a tour of the east coast and as a result was loaded and off-loaded from many many more trucks. The boxes aren't designed for that. Result was a torn-up box that UPS tried to keep together with tape. Fortunately, the contents were 'contained' within the box, and nothing was damaged as a result. That issue is not a B&W nor an eTrailer fault in my opinion.

Etrailer quick delivery 3 days to Cali. Hitch is Very stout construction excellent welding, very easy to assemble! My only negative response is that the packaging. Hitch had a couple scratches due to it bouncing around while in transit. B&W should improve their packaging.

I bought a new trailer recently that weighs 16k and I just didn't feel secure using my Reese pro series 16k to Haul with. So I started looking at various hitches. I've had 3 other fifth wheel hitches in the past. All of them have been 15 and 16k models. What I never liked was the latching system. I've even had a trailer come out of the hitch due to a poor latching hook up. There wasn't an good way to lock the hitch. Some of it was my fault and some was a poor design. When I saw the Curt Q20 had a latch on the handle and also was color coded I was hooked. This hitch satisfied my want list. It arrived 4 days after I ordered it and like other comments I've read it was full of heavy duty staples. It was double packaged. There had to be over 50 staples. It was defiantly packaged securely. After dimantaling the packing I finally got to the hitch. There were a few scratches on the hitch from all the staples but a bit of black touch up paint took care of that. After all the hitch is going to be used and get scrached by me anyways. Four bolts and it was together. It fit perfictly it my existing rails. By the way it's heavier than my other hitches. I wound be apprehensive to pull my new trailer. If your looking for a great hitch at a great price you can't go wrong.

Parts arrived for the DM 8550043, received only the hitch base plate and adjustable shaft for the hitch head. Have been told that the hitch head is shipped separately. Now have a problem with the hitch plate fitting the bed rails. The holes for the pin that secures the hitch plate to the rails are to close to the bottom of the hitch plate photos are given of the problem a pencil was used for reference. There is NO WAY the pin will go through the rail and hitch plate. Waiting on a solution from etrailer. The hole that you can barely see the pencil is tailgate rails pin fits fine.

The truck that got the install is a 2002 Ford F350 Super Duty 7.3 L Diesel dually. The Demco Recon 5th wheel hitch (DM8550043) looks like a well made, heavy duty hitch. All the welds are precise and well done. I like the single wrap around jaw with the real thick bar that backs that up. The handle that pulls out to unlock the jaw moves with ease and locks in the out position when the jaw opens. When the king pin comes in contact with the back of jaw, the jaw wraps around the king pin, the handle closes, you put in the safety pin and your ready to go RVing. I chose the Husky Custom Rails and installation kit (HT31405-686) for my install. The reason I chose these rails over the ones that etrailer had matched up for the hitch is, I had previously installed a set of Airlift Airbags and I didn't want the rail install to interfere with the airbags. It was a good choice, there was no interference at all. If I had not had the bags, I would have chose the rails and install kit that require no drilling. Drilling the holes went very fast and easy, it was torking the rear bolts down that was very difficult. There was not enough room to get a wrench of any kind around the nut. I wound up using a set of vise grips on the nut while a friend of mine torked the bolt slowly from above. All and all I'm happy with the product and I'll give another review in a year.

Just installed my 5th wheel. (mechanically inclined) 30 minutes and done. Whoever thought of the puck system in the newer trucks is a genius! BW made this bad boy heavy duty. Was all I could do to lift frame in place. Put in place loosened all bolts and it fit in place like a glove. Torqued bolts and cannot wait to get my new toyhauler hitched up!!

WOW.....I consider myself pretty handy but between the instructions and youtube...this installation was simple. Very solid....so very impressed.....I have a rubber mat in my bed and it took longer to cut holes put than installing the 5th wheel....I just can't say enough good things about this hitch. Thank YOU B&W for building such quality products.

I have ran a cheap competitor hitch for several years. A manufacturing defect (welded pivot pin) caused the hitch to fail and resulted in 18000$ damage to my truck and trailer. I chose the Curt 25000# hitch after much research and found it to be very well made and clearly shows when it is properly coupled. It is quiet and operates with minimal klunking and chunking going down the road. Overall I am very pleased.

Mounted this hitch on my flatbed 3500 Ram and the hitch works flawlessly. Pull 44' tri-axle weighing in at 23,000# with ease. Very easy to use and understand, very easy to maintain.

I traded my Curt 16k slider hitch for this new crosswing It definitely moved my trailer back 5 inches and I do not see the need for the slide hitch I rarely used. It is lightweight and easy to manage by yourself ( my old one was just too heavy ) The new hitch has nearly eliminated all of the chucking and bucking.

The trailer hitch is perfect and it is used all the time pulling an RV. If I do this again I will do it at the same place.

Great hitch, super easy to install Stepped up to a 20k hitch for my new truck

I recently purchased a Reese M5 20K hitch for my new Silverado 3500HD, Crew Cab, 8’ bed. As usual, Etrailer pricing was very good and with free shipping to boot. The hitch arrived via UPS in just a few days after placing the order. Following the detailed instructions provided by Reese, the install into the factory “puck” system, was fairly straight forward. However, a word of caution concerning the install. There are 4 15/16” bolts that need to be torqued to 220-foot pounds and are somewhat difficult to get to. Fortunately, I was able to borrow a torque wrench that would accommodate the recommended foot pounds of torque. Also, you may have an issue if you need to place the hitch at its highest position. The release handle might protrude above the bed rails of your truck in this position. This will be a problem if you have a bed cover. Reese is/was well aware of this issue and sells an after-market handle that will correct this issue. Etrailer lists this handle on their Web page.

Installed in a 2018 GMC 3500 LB SRW Overall it was really easy to put together. Its light enough move in and out and very sturdy. I did not have a clearance issue with the Backflip cover regarding the stock handle. See pics. Just a heads up, I had an issue with the threading in the legs, etrailer was very understanding and sent me out replacements supper fast. I contacted Reese regarding paint guncked up in the threading and they were aware of the issue, they recommended running a wire brush or a tap to clean it out.

This is my first 5th wheel hitch. Great looks, build quality, and component is easy to operate correctly for a confident hitching experience. Highly recommended. As a plus, the modularity of the assembly easily facilitates upgrade to a higher capacity hitch or component repair if needed. Easy to keep clean and maintain.

I like the Reese hitch for my Ford F350, it pulls great and has no signs of wear on the hitch after pulling for over 5320 miles.
