Forged, Self-Latching Jaw

Self-Latching Jaw

The one-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel hitch provides absolute security with its wraparound design. Increased jaw-to-king-pin contact results in not only a stronger connection, but less noisy rattling and stiff chucking as well.

The jaw is also always ready to receive, so you don't need to use the handle to open it before backing up toward your trailer. As long as the bail pin is removed from the latching handle, the jaw will accept the king pin as it enters the hitch.

Finally, the jaw is self-latching, so it will automatically secure your trailer's king pin when it moves into the jaw.

Quiet, Comfortable Ride

Pivot Bushings

In addition to the tight jaw tolerance, a close connection between the head and the pivot bushings further reduces rattle and movement. And because the pivot bushings are independent from the head, they can be tightened to ensure a strong connection over time.

King Pin Indicator Prevents High Pinning

King Pin Indicator

This M5 hitch features a built-in king pin indicator to ensure proper hookup. This indicator is located on the back of the head along with a V-shaped notch that are both visible from the cab of your truck. The V-notch is lined up with the jaw at the front of the hitch, and can be used as a guiding point to line the king pin up with the jaw as you back up your truck. The jaw also has an internal plate that keeps the king pin from entering if it is too high to enter safely. As a result, the king pin indicator will only change from red to green if the king pin is fully engaged in the jaw.

Easy-to-Use Latching Handle

Lever and Hitch

This hitch's handle is designed for smooth motion and effortless operation. It requires only 2 fingers to use and won't bind up as you pull. In addition, the handle is long, so it's easy to access from outside of your truck bed. And the ergonomic grip makes it comfortable to hold and pull from different angles.

  • Is Reese RE 25K Compatible with 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500 Factory Prep Package?
The Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch RP30143 is only compatible with the Reese Elite Underbed Kit. Unfortunately there is not a compatible leg kit or adapter for your new truck OEM pucks and that hitch head. The compatible hitch for your truck is the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # RP30890. This hitch is directly compatible with your factory pucks. You may want to consider upgrading to the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation For 2016 Chevrolet Silverado With Factory Tow Package
Based on the dimensions of your truck and the trailer you can probably execute about 50 degree turns with a stationary fifth wheel hitch. That can be tough and can cause a lot of issues if a shorter turn is required. My recommendation is to replace the pin box on your trailer with a Sidewinder. The pin box on the trailer should have a plate or sticker, identifying the model. I have attached a link to our product page for the Sidewinders we offer. You can use the filter on the page to select...

  • Recommended Solution to Help With Chucking While Towing 5th Wheel That Already Has FlexAir Pin Box
First off, thank you for being a repeat etrailer.com customer! We definitely appreciate you coming back to us. With that said, I may have a solution for you, but air bags are not the answer for this since it's not your vehicle's suspension system that is causing this. Chucking and jarring while towing a 5th wheel trailer (or any trailer for that matter) is unavoidable because the trailer itself is not one piece with your vehicle. When your truck starts to move forward from a stop your trailer...

  • Are the Fifth Wheel Rail Kits for Chevy and GM Trucks Different Based on Bed Length
There are two reasons the B and W Companion hitch part # BWRVK3700 only shows up for the 8 foot bed models of the 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with the factory rail kit. Biggest reason is because the rail kits between the short and long bed GM rail kits are different dimensions so the hitch won't physically fit. Also because for a short bed truck you'd want to use a slider hitch to have enough turning clearance like the # BWRVK3770 which does fit and would work well. If you have a long...

  • Correct Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for 2018 GMC Sierra 3500
The Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package part # RP30890 is an excellent option for a 2018 GMC Sierra 3500. It has a wrap-around jaw design which will grip the kingpin tightly therefore reducing the amount of slop which attributes to a rough tow. It also has a very wide funnel which is going to make coupling the trailer much easier. The hitch simply drops into the pucks in the truck bed and then all you'll need to do is turn the handles to lock it in place.

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 w/ Factory Puck System
We don't manufacture hitches, but we do offer fits for the 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 with the tow/prep package. If you click the provided link, you can see what's available. Because your truck has a short bed, you'll want to use a sliding fifth wheel hitch. An automatically sliding option is available from Demco, the Hijacker Autoslide is avilable as part # DM8550034 and you'd also need the adpater plate as part # DM6333. In order to use the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550035 with your 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 that has the factory puck system you will need to first add the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter # DM6194. This rail adapter will mount to the pucks in the bed and provide industry standard rails that the Hijacker mounts to. From the center post on the adapter to the front/cab edge of the base rail there is a distance of 10.28 inches. What you can do is take this measurement from...

I have a solution for you, but the Curt Q20 Hitch # C16530-16025 for the 2017 GMC Sierra w/Factory Rail Kit is not compatible with rotating pin boxes like the Reese Revolution and Sidewinder pin boxes. With that said, you can use the Reese M5 5th Wheel Hitch for the Chevy/GMC Factory Towing Package, # RP30890, that is compatible with the Reese rotating pin boxes. • How to Determine Height Setting for Reese 5th Wheel Hitch on 2019 GMC Sierra 2500
There is an easy way to figure out how to determine what height setting a fifth wheel hitch such as the Reese M5 # RP30890 needs to be in your 2019 GMC Sierra 2500, just keep in mind you will need five to six inches of space from your Silverado's bed rails to your trailer as in the accompanying photo. To determine the height simply measure from the the bottom of your trailer's pin box to the ground; after that measure from the top of your Sierra's truck bed to the ground. The difference...

  • Does Reese M5 5th Wheel Hitch have Enough Turning Clearance for 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500 Short Bed
Reese does have an M5 fifth wheel hitch that fits the OEM rail kit of your 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500HD short bed with the part # RP26FR but the part number you mentioned fits the older version of the rail kit so it wouldn't work. As far as turning clearance goes you most likely will be fine since most current fifth wheel campers have tapered noses which allow for additional turning clearance and the short bed truck you have is actually a little longer at 6-3/4 foot.

We do have hitches that fit the GM factory puck package but the replacement legs part # RP30889 is not compatible with the head of your Reese Elite Series hitch part # 58292. The Reese Elite hitch is designed with legs to fit the Ford prep package or the Reese Elite Underbed Rail installation kit, but you already have a puck system. • Why Doesn't Reese M5 RP30890 Fit 2020 GMC 3500 with OEM Rail Kit
The problem is that for some reason GM decided to change the OEM fifth wheel rail kit design in 2020 and the hitch you have now # RP30890 is for the older version. So at this time you'd need a new hitch like the B and W Companion part # BWRVK3710 which was designed for the 2020 rail kit. Most refer to this as the nicest hitch around due to how quiet and well made it is.

Since you're using a sliding hitch I'm assuming your 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500 is a 6-3/4' bed so the only option you'll have is replace the pin box of your 2017 Highland Ridge Open Range Roamer 337RLS with a rotating pin box and swapping the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th wheel hitch # DM8550034 with a standard fifth wheel hitch that will be a little lighter. This is a an excellent hitch that will simply lock into the factory puck system on your vehicle. It has an impressive gross towing weight of 24,000 lbs and max vertical load of 7,000 lbs. • How to Safely Obtain Maximum Clearance From Truck Bed Rails to Fifth Wheel Trailer Overhang
The minimum distance from the top of your truck rails to the bottom of your fifth wheel trailer overhang should be about 5 or 6 inches. The goal is, when fully loaded, for your truck and trailer to sit level on level ground AND have the maximum clearance available over the truck rails. If you accomplish this by adjusting the hitch in such a way that the trailer nose goes up and puts the trailer out of level, then you will be overloading the trailer rear axle and rear tires. When measuring the pin box height you'll need to have the trailer level and the measure from the ground to the base of the king pin (pictured below). I recommend rechecking this measurement yourself since the dealership probably has zero clue what they're doing. You'll also want to get the measurement from the floor of your 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500's bed.
