Konig Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - Self Tensioning - 1 Pair
Through an order mix up I was not able to use the chains I ordered for a trip I was taking. Fortunately, etrailer worked with me to get the chains returned. Thanks for the great customer service.
These chains are far superior to others of the same caliber and are well worth the money spent. I find them easy to put on and remove with a little practice before you really need them.

Well, I would say a little harder to put on correctly than advertised, but I called customer support and they helped me. Also watching all of the videos helped because each one was worded a little differently. Definitely would suggest one or two dry runs before you are in the elements. Important to realize to slide the plastic coated cable to the backside of the tire and center the chains after connecting the plastic coated cable and the small red hook. Once I figured this out I was able to almost perfectly center the chains (at least on one tire). On the other tire I couldn't get it perfectly centered (see photos). After about an 1/8 of a mile of very low speed driving it still didn't center but maybe with more driving at higher speeds it would. Also important to remember to have the yellow end of the chain on your right hand side beofore sliding behind the tire and making the first connection. One question I still have is how tight to pull the tension cable after you put it through the stop device. Every video seems a little bit different as to how tight you pull the cable by hand before connecting it to the tensioning device. As far as taking them off I tried four times to line up my car perfectly so I wouldn't have to drive over the chains after disconnecting them but this was not possible for me. So, with the plastic coated cable on top I just disconnected the connections in reverse and then put all the hooks and components off to the side and drove off/over the chains, which seemed to work fine. Will see how they work in the snow and ice but I'm hopeful they will do well.
Very easy to install on my 2011 Prius. This is the first (and only) chain set I've owned. Use for weekend trips in the Sierra during snow season and it's been much easier to put on/take off than expected based on stories I'd head about snow chains.

This is an update to the review for the 2017 MINI Cooper with 205/45-17 tires. By taking off both spacers (red and silver), I was able to get the chains to center on the tire - I might even be able to put one of the chain tightening screws back on, maybe more as the tread wears down. So I think they're going to work well this winter. I'll bump the review up to five stars when I can figure out how to get them to easily fit into the carrying case.
These are adapters to allow the associated chain set fit some uncommon tire lugs. The adapters work flawlessly. Ordered them for the chain set as the rims on my vehicle require them. Fit perfectly as did the chains after adjustment. However, I don't know how well they actually work on snow and ice. Based on experience with a number of other chain sets I see no reason to doubt their reliability and efficiency. Backstory: Ordered a set for a trip to Colorado over Christmas & New Year's as we were expecting snow and ice as we were planning to travel to Estes Park, Denver, Colorado Springs, Salida, Buena Vista, Leadville, etc. Received our order quickly and correctly. Tried chains on tires and made fitting adjustments per instructions for exact tire size. Played with the chains a few times to make sure I knew how to get them deployed quickly. They are extremely easy to put on once they are adjusted. Watch the video - it really is that easy. Fast forward a few weeks, we went on our trip. Got not much more than a dusting the whole trip and never had to put the chains on. Meanwhile, back home, there were something like 129,000 poor bxxxxxxs waiting for the roads to be cleared and power to be restored from the huge ice and snow storms. At the end of our trip we drove home over clear roads surrounded by big piles of plowed snow. Arrived home to find our neighbors huge tree uprooted and blown over. We didn't receive any damage. Next day got the hound out of doggie jail pretty much as if nothing had happened. I like these chains!

So these are really expensive but there weren't a lot of options for my wide 22" tires. Are they worth it? Absolutely! These are my first chains so I wasn't sure what to expect, but once you make the initial size adjustments, it is super easy to get these on! I've seen other cars on the side of the road struggling to get their traditional chains on, where you have to lay down the chains, drive over, then wrap them around the tire and secure them. With these, I just unfold them, push them onto the tires as far as they will go over the top and front and back, and slowly drive forward until they auto-adjust in place. A quick stop to double-check and make sure they are on all the way, and off I go. Love them!
Bought these for my Model X and so far I’ve only needed to use them a few times. These chains were pretty easy to put on. The hard part is making sure the lug nut grabber has thoroughly grabber the nut so the chains clamp down properly. Watch some YouTube. Videos The instructions are pretty clear on how to adjust these for your tire size. Do that adjustment as soon as you can after purchase. As this is not fun to do on the side of the road.

First, I don't think I've ever had better service from an online retailer. Just outstanding. The chains got here incredibly fast. The chains themselves, I've used these before when they were made by Thule. Overall they do not seem as heavy-duty but I could be wrong & will update after I've used them. This time I got the kind without the quick-release feature, as I've gotten that feature twice in the past & both times it was the first thing to go. I was still able to use the chains without it but it was a waste. So I got the other one, where one end slips inside the other & there isn't a quick release, but I expect it will be fine. Just not having to drive back & forth makes it easy for one person to put on the chains & that's really the best feature. I use these on an old honda civic & they've always worked really well. I got bungee-type tensioners as well, since the last ones were always a bit loose even with the "auto tensioner" on 13-inch rims. I will update after I use them but we haven't had any snow yet.
Just in time for the snow

I practiced with these several times before needing them. While not as fast as in the video, I got pretty adept at installing them. My driveway is steep enough that I can't always make it up, even with dedicated snows. When I actually needed them during a Backcountry ski trip, they broke, causing me to have to alter my plans. I contacted etrailer twice. Once shortly after it happened, and once when I was first prompted for this review and did not hear back either time. I think I am the outlier- I spent a huge amount on the chains because of their great reviews, and expect I just had some bad luck. I have also, in general, had great experience with etrailer customer service, and expect they may be dealing with some of the same staffing issues as the rest of the world. The vehicle in the picture isn't mine, but was on our two hour drive to the closest Canadian Tire after the chains failed. Other pics show the problem, and my failed field repair. The rust showed on the chains by the time I got home from a 1 week trip-. I couldn't hang them up to dry on our campervan trip.
This company is the best. Their service is outstanding. I not only received my snow tire chains very quickly but when I needed assistance with confirmation on how to install and remove them they were so helpful on the phone! The tire chains are very easy to install; I highly recommend them.

I've looked for better chains, but they don't exist. Unless your snow chains are konigs, they aren't worth the money, no matter how cheap or expensive they are. It's really very simple. Other chains break. Konigs don't.
Expensive but worth it I think. Very similar in design to other less expensive versions from a different mfr but these do appear to be of a higher quality. Easy to install once I figured it out during a trial run in the garage and will probably be the same in real conditions. You would not want the first time you take them out of the box to be when you need them on the side of a road in freezing weather. Excellent customer service as others have mentioned, and super quick free deliver.

While I think this could be a fantastic set of chains, I believe the manufacturer could provide better instructions as to buying replacement parts. I tried installing these chains and one of the hex head bolts broke while tightening it up. I tried to find a replacement all over their website and also on etrailer but didn't find any. etrailer team was very kind to help me get in contact with the manufacturer to provide me with a replacement but they never responded back or appeared at all, and ended up just returning these because I could never use them but in the garage to test them one at a time using the same bolt for each set. I'm sure these could have been awesome in the snow plus they looked fantastic on my Kia Sorento 2022.
While I have not actually used them in the snow yet, my test installation in the garage went well.

I have driven on these chains for a year. Here are my thoughts. They are probably good for someone who just needs to drive on a chain to get from their chalet to the ski lift while looking fly. However we own land in the mountains of Colorado about three miles up a private road that is unmaintained. We routinely face 6-8 inch drifts, steep inclines, and hairpin turns. When you can actually get this chain on, it works fine. However, after the first time, you will basically never get this chain on properly again. The first time I put them on, I was in love. Then I tried to take them off after getting a mix of heavy snow and dirt into the release canal. When you hit the quick release, it goes up about a quarter of the way, and you have to reach behind the wheel and pull to get the wire to release. From there, everything goes downhill. The wire stretches a little from having to pull it off the wheel. Then when you step on the quick tighten, it tightens, unless the snow underneath is too icy/firm, then it only tightens sort of. You can take it off and retry, but that loosens the wire a little bit more. Soon enough, the chain isn't actually tight against the wheel. But it stays on. Which is fine if you don't spin. But if you hit a spot where you spin, then the chain goes shooting off the back like a bola. You can put it back on, but it doesn't ever tighten down well enough again. Last time I went up to our property, I got in fine, losing one chain along the way, but when I tried to get out, got stuck three times because I couldn't keep the chains on my tires. Trying to get them on in deep snow, under tire spun icy snow, don't bother. TL;DR, great if you have to use them once or twice in cute, clean, snow. Anything of actual need, get different chains.
There is a learning curve to installation, even though these chains seem well-made and easier to use than other types. It can be difficult to center them on the tire. You have to have normal arm strength to lift and place them correctly.
