If you like a clean, factory-style look when you’re not towing, this setup fits the bill. The hidden design keeps brackets from sticking out past the front of your vehicle, and the removable arms twist out quickly for a smooth finish. Receiver covers plug into the openings to keep dirt and debris out while giving the base plate a finished look.

Hooking up doesn’t take much effort with the twist-lock arms. Each arm slides into the receiver, rotates to lock, and secures with a pin. When you’re done towing, just pull the pin, rotate, and remove. It’s a simple, solid connection that makes setup fast whether you’re on the road or in your driveway.

The base plate bolts directly to your chassis, so no welding is required. Its durable steel construction is powder coated to resist rust and corrosion, and the sturdy design spreads towing force evenly across the frame to help prevent stress on your suspension. It’s built to stay reliable through miles of towing.
This kit pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure connection. If you’re running other gear, it’s adaptable for use with Roadmaster tow bars using adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5 (sold separately) or with Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector plug bracket if you want a tidy wiring setup up front.
You won’t need to weld anything to get this in place. The base plate bolts securely to your chassis using the included mounting hardware for a straightforward install. With bracket spacing of 24" and a bracket height of 24-1/4", it’s designed for precise fitment that lines up smoothly for your towing setup.

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.

It has been a good system. I would still give it 4 stars a year later just because it was a difficult job to install. Not for the faint of heart. So far have about 6k miles of towing with it. Would I do it again….Yes as it was worth the effort.
