If you like your front end to stay clean when you’re not towing, this design keeps it that way. The brackets sit flush with the chassis and don’t protrude past the front of the vehicle. The removable arms come off with a simple twist, leaving only smooth receiver openings. Snap in the included receiver covers to keep dirt and debris out and keep the setup looking finished.

Connecting the tow bar is straightforward and quick. Each arm slides into the receiver, rotates until it locks in place, and secures with a pull pin. When you’re done towing, pull the pin, twist, and remove the arms. The system’s twist-lock attachment makes solo hookups easier whether you’re at home or on the road.

The base plate bolts directly to your chassis—no welding required—and spreads towing forces evenly across the frame to reduce stress on the suspension. Its durable steel build and powder-coated finish help resist rust and corrosion through years of use. It’s designed to stay solid through long-distance towing without loosening or flexing.
The sturdy lugs pair directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure connection every time. If you’re using a Roadmaster or Demco tow bar, adapters are available separately (RM-031 or RM-031-5 for Roadmaster, DM9523041 for Demco). Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector plug bracket up front so your wiring stays organized and easy to access.
This kit is designed for a straightforward installation—no welding needed. It bolts securely to the chassis using the included hardware and offers clear mounting points that line up for a clean fit. With a 22" distance between brackets and a 14-1/2" bracket height, you can plan your setup precisely before you start turning wrenches.

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.

It has been a good system. I would still give it 4 stars a year later just because it was a difficult job to install. Not for the faint of heart. So far have about 6k miles of towing with it. Would I do it again….Yes as it was worth the effort.
