When you’re towing for miles, you need hardware that can handle the strain. This Blue Ox base plate kit is made from durable steel with a sturdy design that spreads towing force evenly to help prevent stress on your vehicle’s suspension. It bolts securely to the chassis with the included mounting hardware—no welding required—so you get a solid, reliable connection for every trip. The powder coat finish helps resist rust and corrosion for long-term use.
No one wants their front end cluttered with bulky brackets when they’re not towing. The low-profile reinforcements on this base plate give your setup a streamlined look while still providing strong attachment points. The crossbar support beam blends smoothly with the bumper, leaving a neat, factory-style appearance even when the tow bar is detached.
This kit is designed for simple installation that doesn’t require welding or complicated fabrication. It bolts directly to your chassis using the supplied mounting hardware, making it approachable for DIY installers who want a clean fit and dependable performance without extra hassle.
If you’re already running a Blue Ox tow bar, you’re good to go—the connection points line up directly. It’s also adaptable for use with Roadmaster tow bars when paired with adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5 (sold separately), and adaptable for use with Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (sold separately). That flexibility makes it easy to keep your existing gear while building out the rest of your flat towing setup.
For planning your full towing system, this base plate has a distance between brackets of 29-3/4" and a bracket height of 22-1/2". Those exact measurements help ensure that your tow bar and supplemental components align correctly for smooth hookup and safe operation every time.

Glad the install went smoothly, Grant! Even with those weird handle nuts (which I agree are kind of odd). What's the first trip you have planned? And I will let Alex know what you said as well! : )

Thanks for your review, Richard! It sounds like this was a fairly involved installation, but we're glad to hear everything came together successfully in the end. We appreciate you sharing the details of your process, especially the tips about the tight frame rail clearance and drilling challenges, as those insights may help other RV owners tackling the same project. Thanks for including the photo as well. Your finished installation looks great! Now that it's installed and you're moving on to the diode kit and brake away switch, what adventure are you looking forward to most this summer in your RV?
