BOLT (Breakthrough One-key Lock Technology) has solved that problem by designing a line of locks that can operate with a key you already have handy - your vehicle ignition key.
When you insert your own key into the cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down until they are matched exactly to that key. The first time the key is rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key. When the key is removed, the cylinder moves into the locked position. When the key is turned again, it will rotate to the unlocked position.
BOLT is particularly useful in commercial applications. Imagine being able to send a crew without having to sign out multiple keys for a work truck, trailer, hitch pins, and equipment locks. With BOLT, the vehicle key becomes a master key. It opens all those locks and you no longer have the hassle of getting to a work site only to find that you've brought the wrong keys.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff for etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the bolt trailer coupler lock for the Jeep and Ram ProMaster center cut keys. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2014 and newer Jeep and Ram ProMaster vehicles that use the center cut key. Now this coupler pin lock will ensure that your trailer is securely hitched, helps keep it safe from theft while it's being stored. The coupler pin lock is used in place of the standard pinning clip to help prevent theft of your trailer.
Now, with this lock, you won't have to carry an additional key cause it will code to your vehicles factory ignition key. The lock uses the vehicles ignition key, so you always have the right key with you and it's pretty easy to code. All you have to do is tear off this little tab here, insert your ignition key into this bolt cylinder, turn the key once and then the lock is permanently coded to your key. Now, one note I do want to mention is the bolt locks permanently coded to only one vehicle, they cannot be recoded or re-keyed. What's nice about it, is this lock right here, this portion will slide back and forth along the pin to allow use with couplers from anywhere, from a half inch up to three and three eighths inch inside span.
And it does adjust in one eighth inch increments to allow for a nice snug fit. It is a heavy duty construction, has a nice security feature, the plate tumbler sidebar prevents picking or bumping the locks automatically, the lock automatically, when the key is removed and it uses a double ball bearing locking mechanism. It is a nice weatherproof automotive quality construction. The pin is a stainless steel pins, very durable and rustproof and the lock itself is in stainless steel lock shutter on it to help keep out dirt and moisture, the outer casing is painted black to resist coercion. Few specs on this, this is designed to fit the trigger latch style or the lover latch style ball couplers.
The inside pin length we mentioned is anywhere from a half an inch up to three and three eighths inches, and the pin diameter size is five sixteenths of an inch that should do it for the review on this bolt trailer coupler lock, for the Jeep and Ram ProMaster center cut keys..

Got my Bolt trailer coupler lock this afternoon. It was a lot easier than I thought to key. I got it on the trailer already.Great product!!
Super easy to key lock to my Ram key. Trying to eliminate as many keys as I can. As you can see in the picture, I also got the matching BOLT receiver lock.
No weather cover as on their other locks, but it has a sliding internal cover similar to your car/truck door lock. Solid and beautifully finished.

Keyed to our 1996 f350 and using on our Demco hitch. Bought this with the plan to weld up some extensions covering the hitch bolts that connect to trailer. Should not be difficult since it is made from steel.
My 2010 Airstream trailer coupler has a curled lip on the collar which widens as you move toward the trailer. The 2-5/16" "ball" fit well as long as I slipped the U ring through the front slot of the red plate. I tried the back slot but the collar was too wide so the pin wouldn't go through. Using the front slot seems like the system will be secure enough but I would prefer using the back slot. The lock works perfectly with my 2014 Tundra key.
I don't have a center cut GM key just yet but my locksmith is hooking me up with an unused that's already been cut that he was using to bring perfection to the center cut key world when they were first introduced. I do know the bolt is the perfect size to replace the snap retainer on the yoke of our Curt 30K 5th wheel hitch to help keep it right where it's supposed to be, which is helping to protect our hitch to keep it from growing legs then strolling off the property. It's really discouraging when considering all the fellow brothers and sisters out there who are scheming, thinking up new ways to attempt to rip us off. I really never pictured 2025 to be so upside-down in the mindset between what's right and what's wrong. In the modern times, absolutely nothing is sacred or safe.
Works well but thought pin a bit long but maybe ok when combined with this complete tongue lock when parked. Again nice that it works with my Toyota tailgate key.
Using on my Aluma car trailer. Fits well and instructions well written. Can even combine with latch pin for added security. Uses my Toyota truck tailgate key as advertised.
Best addition you can add for trailers. I never have to go looking for keys. Had this on my last truck for the receiver and trailer pins. Only gripe is those are now useless.
I already owned one of these for my boat now I’m putting a second one on my utility trailer and I have one for my trailer hitch on my truck firm believer always nice to have only one key for all my toys
We've tried a TON of different coupler locks for our 2019 Jayco RV with an underslung coupler, and we ended up having to send them all back because they're too narrow. A year or two ago, after giving up on all the other brands from all the other sellers, I got on the phone with an e-trailer rep, and he dug through the available options to find one wide enough, and this one works!
Since it's keyed to the tow vehicle key, and since we sold our previous tow vehicle, I just bought another one because I KNEW it would fit, and it does. So thankful for this lock and for etrailer's help.
Good news is that it works like all B.O.L.T. locks I have with one key. Bad news is that there is no way to seat the cylinder COMPLETELY against the hitch, which leaves a small gap that a thief could get a hacksaw into. Still, the pros outweigh the cons.
Easy to use, works perfectly gets rid of unnecessary keys on ur key ring.
Excellent quality! Superior security! I have Bolt products on boat trailer and cargo trailer. The feature that all my Bolt products are all keyed to my ignition key sure comes in handy!
Easy upgrade
Love this lock. Have used before and found them very fast and easy to use. I would like to see a change from an L shape to a T shape. I believe this would make this more user friendly .
Good product, and it’s awesome that I can key it to my truck door key.
Little too long so I have cut to the length that I want. Great because I do not have to carry extra key, If I can cut it with my Dremel tool, how secure is it?

Thank you for leaving a review! The integrity of the lock should not be compromised if you decide to shorten the pin. However, on thing to keep in mind is that the pin may fall more easily if you do cut it. It is wider at the pointed edge and that keeps it from falling out when not engaged.
