Video Transcript for Breaking Down the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball-63836

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Draw-Tite 2 5/16 diameter chrome hitch ball, has a 14,000 pound weight capacity. Now, this hitch ball provides a connection point for your trailer's coupler. They do use the fine threads on this to provide an exceptionally tight, strong grip, and it is a durable steel construction. You can see it has a nice corrosion resistant chrome finish to it, and also, if you noticed, the flat sides here, these are built-in wrench flats that make it very easy to hold the ball in place while you're torquing the nut down. Does include the lock washer and the nut, it's all included.

Basically, when you go to install this, you'll put on your lock washer, put on your nut, and then torque it down to the correct specs. Again, the ball diameter is 2 5/16 inches, which is stamped on the top. The weight capacity is 14,000 pounds, which again is stamped on the top. Give you a few dimensions on this, we're gonna measure the shank. Now, this is designed to fit ball mount platforms that are 3/4 of an inch to 1 1/4 inch thick.

So the shank length is gonna be right at 2 3/4 quarter inches long, and the shank diameter is right at 1 1/4 inches. But that should do it for the review on this Draw-Tite 2 5/16 inch chrome hitch ball with the 14,000 pound capacity..

  • Weight Distribution System For A 2017 Chevrolet Colorado Pulling A 3,300lb Camper
The main issue using a weight distribution hitch rated for a higher capacity than needed like the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA92-00-1200 is that it can cause a stiff ride. It does not increase towing capacity because that is always limited by your lowest rated component. Generally you want to use tongue weight to drive the selection of a weight distribution system. Tongue weight is the weight that the fully loaded trailer exerts downward on the hitch ball of the tow vehicle....

  • Weight Distribution System for 2025 Delta Alliance Being Towed by 2023 Ram 2500
Hello Branson. Congrats on the new travel trailer! I have the perfect solution for you, the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 12,000 lbs GTW, 1,200 lbs TW # RP66074, and for the shank for your 2023 Ram 2500's 2 1/2" receiver you want # EQ90-02-4900. When choosing the right weight distribution system the tongue weight is most important, your unloaded tongue weight (hitch weight) is 632 lbs, once you get your trailer loaded up that number will rise....

  • Weight Distribution for a Micro Minnie 2108DS Travel Trailer
I took a look at several pictures of the 2108DS Micro Minnie trailers and they have a regular coupler and not a bottom-mount or underslung style coupler. Your particular model has a 7,000 pound gross trailer weight and dry it weighs 3,900 pounds. The dry tongue weight is 410 pounds meaning it is 10.5 percent of the gross trailer weight. Going by that same 10.5 percent the tongue weight can be as much as 735 pounds. The goal is to use a weight distribution system that puts the tongue weight...

  • Why Wont etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit Fit Ford Factory 2-1/2 Inch Hitch Receiver
The reason the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kits for 2-1/2" Hitches - 3-1/2" Rise or 5" Drop # EBMK25518 (as well as 1-1/2" Rise or 3" Drop # EBMK25318) will not fit the factory 2-1/2" hitch receiver on your 2018 Ford F-350 is that those receivers have edges which are a bit rounder than standard hitch receivers and this ball mount has square edges. I recommend checking out the Titan Ball Mount for 2-1/2" Receivers # 45123 which has a 5" drop and from the accompanying photo you can see how the...

We do have the installation instructions available for the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, # C15704. They can be found on the product page, next to a little picture of a wrench. But I have also included a link to the instructions below. Just a few additional tips I can offer. Installation of this hitch requires temporary removal of the bumper during installation. It will fit with a full sized spare tire stowed under vehicle, as long as it is the factory spare. If your 2007 Dodge Ram 3500...

  • Recommended Class V Hitch for 2006 GMC Sierra for Towing 10,800 lb Boat
I'd recommend upgrading that hitch, ASAP. If the hitch fails while you're towing, causing an accident, your insurance company would be well within their rights to deny you coverage which would leave you wide open to all kinds of legal liability. Not a pretty situation. Usually, Class V hitches do indeed have a 2-1/2 inch receiver tube. However, companies like Curt Manufacturing, Draw-Tite and B&W have developed Class V hitches with a 2 inch receiver tube that are strong enough to be classified...

The closest thing that we have is the Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Ball Set # 906b which you could use with the Curt Reducer Bushing for Ball Mounts # F-2. • Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 8,500 lb Boat Trailer with Surge Brakes
The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow, this figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached an FAQ on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. Typically tongue weight is 10-15 percent of the total trailer weight. At your total trailer weight of 8,500 lbs you will most likely have a tongue weight range of 850-1,275...

This is calculated by taking the measured tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. • Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 2015 Ford F-150 Towing Car Hauler
Suspension enhancement is great for vehicles that are carrying a heavy load in the cargo area of the vehicle. But if the sag is from towing a trailer a much better solution is a weight distribution system. The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the...

  • Does the Titan Ball Mount # 45123 Have the Same Weight Capacity when Used in the Rise Position
The Titan Ball Mount you referenced, part # 45123 can certainly be used in the rise position. The ball mount has a 3-1/2 inch rise, and has the same 12000 lb towing/ 1200 lb tongue weight capacity when used in the rise position. This ball mount requires a trailer ball with a 1-1/4 inch diameter shank like the # A-90 2 inch ball or the # 63836 2-5/16 inch ball.
