Ellen: Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're taking a quick look at the home and auto repair tool kit. This is a really handy gift if you want to give this to maybe a niece, nephew, grandkid, anybody that you're wanting to start off on having their own tool sets to do all kinds of jobs and chores around the house or the garage. So we're going to take a quick look at the case, what you get inside here. Talk a little bit about what kind of quality you could expect from this and how long you might last with it.So right off the bat, I like this case. I think it looks pretty nice. The one thing I don't like about it is the hinge on the back or the bottom, just because it's just one piece of plastic.

It does run pretty much the whole length. So it should last for awhile. But if you're going to be using this day in and day out, that might get some wear and tear, and it might end up breaking over time. I bet you'd at least get about five years out of it as long as it's not getting dropped a whole lot.So let's take a look at the inside. Talk a little bit about what you get.

So you got two little tabs to open that up and you have a little piece of foam here to help hold things in place. That's probably going to get lost immediately, but it does help to keep the sockets down. I'll do a shake test with it in a minute to see how well it holds even without it. So you get a hammer, tape measure, 3/8" drive socket. You can hear the teeth in there.

Definitely not the highest quality socket out there, but a good starter kit.You do get a lot of sockets to go with it, both SAE and metric. Get that to fit down in there. Also get a 1/4" drive little hand wrench or spinner handle, and a coupler for that. A bunch of different fittings for those. You got square hex bits, star bits, your Phillips and flatheads, some hex tools.

You get both again metric and SAE. Got some smaller tools here. These are always really handy for fixing eyeglasses. If you have a musical instrument, I always kept these in my saxophone case in band because you always have to tighten up your valves and stuff. So those come in handy for all kinds of things. If you have any small screws, you've got a number one, three, two and another 2.4 and 1.4. A pair of needle nose pliers, which feel pretty good in the hand. You know, the more you take care of these the longer they'll last if you put a little lubrication in that joint to make sure that they last.Adjustable wrench, always a really handy thing to have if you don't want to mess with finding the right socket. Although the right tool for the job always makes it better. So a little bit loose. So that's not the best but should do the job. Handle is okay as far as comfort. It's a little bit funky shaped honestly. So I just like to have the versatility of this kit with the hammer and all of the things that you get in here. I think it makes a really great starter kit. You got your open-ended wrenches here. Some odds and ends as far as fasteners. Some anchors, screws, nails, some push pins. So you just get a nice assortment with this kit, that again, I think should make a really good starter kit. Got a snap off knife. So just a razor knife there with the snap off ends. So you can do all kinds of jobs with that.So I'm going to shut this and let's do a little shake test just to see how well all the things stay in their spot. It seems like all the sockets and stuff seem pretty happy in their spots, but let's just see. Everything stayed where we're supposed to. Of course you always want to make sure that you open it with the top up. If you we're to flip it over there's a good chance that things will pop out like the hammer. Oh, this guy did move the disc for the ratchet but other than that I'm impressed with how well everything stayed in place. So that's cool. And even without its little foam piece, which again, you're going to lose that immediately. But all in all, I think this makes a great starter kit. Keeps everything organized. Gives you lots of different tools to do all kinds of jobs. And again, should make a great gift for a birthday or Christmas gift or whatever. So I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right kit for you. We do have some others available here at etrailer.com, and also all kinds of other tools and accessories for your vehicles, RVs, motor homes and boats. So check us out. I'm Ellen with etrailer.com.
