Video Transcript for Rhino-Rack Heavy-Duty Crossbars Work Light Mounting Bracket Review and Installation

Hi there, adventurers. Today we're gonna be taking a look at Rhino-Rack's work light mounts for roof racks and platform racks. One of the issues when you wanna add lights to your vehicle is you have to figure out a way to get it mounted. They do typically come with a bracket, but then it's usually just a bolt that you'll have to drill some holes through something, whether it's adding your own brackets or drilling through your camper or trailer vehicle to get it mounted up. A bracket like this will slide easily into a roof rack or platform rack which gives you a quick and easy mounting point. So it's gonna cut down on your installation time and it also means you don't have to drill into anything.

So you're not potentially leaving room for leaks and other things like that to occur in the future. You're gonna have a nice sturdy, stable mount that's gonna save you a lot of time and also give you the versatility of easy adjustment, 'cause I like the way this mount kind of sticks off the back of your roof rack or platform rack or the front, whichever way you've got it facing. And you can easily access these to loosen it up and adjust the swivel if you need to, as well as easily get to the light and adjust that as well. Everything's really easy to get to for adjustment. The bracket is a steel construction with a black powder-coat finish to protect it against rust and corrosion.

And it also helps to match your roof rack and platform racks. You'll get multiple sets of hardware with it, depending whether you're mounting it on a roof rack or on heavy duty bars, however, for the heavy duty bars a little bit bigger to allow you to accommodate for that. And I like this too, 'cause if you're gonna mount a light, once you've put it into place you've pretty much got a fixed position where it has to stay in. You might be able to adjust it and swivel it a little bit to change the angle, but it's always gonna be there. With this you could easily move this light to another position.

I really like this for camper setups like we're showing it off here today, because maybe at one camp site, you guys are camping with your tents and a lot of your gear behind your camper, but at another site, it might be different, a little bit different layout, and you're gonna be in front or behind on the side of the camper. You can easily adjust these lights and slide it around to a new spot and it's gonna be appropriate for every situation. So now we're gonna go ahead and get our bracket in place. You'll either have an open slot or you can slide it in from the end, depending on the style of rack you've got. There are two different types of hardware you're gonna use.

We'll need to do a little bit of pre-assembly before we can slide that in. This is our standard hardware, it's what you're gonna use in most cases. And you also get heavy duty hardware as well, if you've got heavy duty bars. We're gonna be using the standard ones. And all we're gonna do is you'll have some plastic sleeves that come in your kit, little bushings here, they're gonna slide over the T like that. This is then gonna slide up through the hole in our bracket. We're using the small hole. There are two small holes. So now we've got this one started on there. And then on top, we're gonna follow that up with a flat washer and a locking nut. We'll then prepare the hardware in the other small hole on our bracket as well. We can then take our T-slots, drop them down in the opening or slide it in the end. We're just gonna slide it down till we reach our desired position. Once you find where you wanna mount it, you can then just tighten up your hardware. We're gonna use a 10-millimeter wrench or socket to tighten down our hardware. This is gonna be the same, regardless if you're using the regular or heavy duty hardware. Now that we've got our bracket mounted up, that completes our installation of the bracket. But we do need to get some lights on it now. So we're using Buyers LED work lights to mount up to those. This is what our light's gonna look like when you get it. It does come with a bracket so we can get it mounted up, and it's gonna work right with our bracket that we had installed. This bracket's gonna allow it to swivel as well as tilt. We're gonna take the bolt that comes in the kit with the light. We're gonna drop it down through. There's also a large bolt that comes in the kit, a very long one. This is gonna line up, our bracket'll line up with our light and the long bolt's gonna slide all the way through. And then on the other side, we can follow that up with a lock washer and then a nut. And for now we're just gonna leave these pretty loose so we can get our proper adjustment later. I'm just gonna kind of twist it up like this and then just hand tighten it for now. And that's good enough for now. We don't need to go crazy. We'll then take our light assembly, we're gonna drop it right down in to the hole. Our bolt fits perfectly inside the bracket that we had just installed. We can then follow that up with a lock washer and a nut. This is why I really like this bracket being offset like this. It's just big enough that we're able to tighten down our hardware without any issues here. So that makes it really nice. Now, at this point, you can choose which position you want it to be on, whether you want it to angle straight off the back or slightly off to the side. We're gonna put just a slight side tilt to it. And then we're gonna tighten this down with a 17-millimeter wrench. Now we don't need to use anything on the upper part, because our bracket actually has a couple of notches on it that holds our bolt in place while we tighten this down. Next, we'll wanna choose the tilt for our light and we wanna give it just a slight downward angle. And we're gonna use a couple of 13-millimeter wrenches to snug down this hardware. Now that we've got our light fully tightened down, it's completely mounted at this point, you'll just need to run wires to your light so you can get it operational. The light's pretty simple. It just has a power and a ground wire, with red being positive and black being the negative. I highly recommend wiring this up to a switch so you can turn your lights on and off, because if you wire it directly to the battery, the light's gonna be on the whole time. You'd have to turn off your disconnect switch or disconnect the battery in order to shut it off. And that completes our look at Rhino-Rack's work light mount for roof racks and platform racks..
