Hey everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the Valterra battery box vent cover. Now these are designed to be direct replacements for the Valterra RV battery box. You know, there is a bolt to it, and there's a hose that kind of connects on the end of it, and helps vent those battery fumes and everything. But it seems like the majority of people, including myself, kind of get creative, and use these in a lot of different scenarios, just to help promote airflow, whatever the case may be. And like I said, that's kind of how I'm using it today.
So why don't we check out what we got going on. As far as, you know, our measurements and whatnot are concerned. So the actual size of it, from end to end, is gonna be four and one quarter of an inch. Same holds true from top to bottom. It'll be four and one quarter of an inch.
As far as the mounting holes. So from center line to center line, it's gonna be three in one quarter, same up and down. And the overall thickness. So from here, to where the little round opening protrudes out, it's only gonna be a quarter of an inch. So it's really low profile, and should fit in a lot of different areas.
And as far as the diameter of this hole, that's gonna be two and nine sixteens of an inch. So if you're wanting to flush mount this somewhere, you're probably gonna have to to drill an opening, you know, so this can sit inside of it, and actually sit flush. And just outta curiosity, you know, a hole saw would probably be your best bet. This is a two and 11 sixteenths of an inch hole saw, and it looks like it would work about perfect. It's just a little bit bigger than that opening.
So if you we're to drill something out with this, it should fit right inside of that opening. And this is gonna be made out of plastic, and it's almost soft, so it's pliable, you know You can bend it around. It don't feel like, it's not brittle though, you know When you do this, it don't feel like it's gonna snap in half, or crack, or anything like that. Now you know, does that mean you could put this in a high traffic area, or something, and it would not ever break It's hard to say, but just something to think about, you know, where you're gonna be putting this, and if it is in a high traffic area, you might wanna grab an extra just to have on hand, in case that does happen, or find something else that might be made out of metal, or something along those lines. The reason that I'm using the cover today, is because in my boat here, where the batteries, and charger, and all that type of stuff are set up, there's a big, large opening there. And I redid all this stuff in here, and the existing charger was mounted here. And so when I removed that to upgrade to my NOCO one here, it left this big hole. And it turns out that hole is just the right size, that our vent cover can, you know, cover it up. So not only will it look a little better, but I won't have no sharp edges, and stuff like that to deal with. So it's just kind of the finishing touch. So I was able to actually get the cover installed, and that's how it turned out. I'm really happy with it actually, for the amount of time and energy that I used on it. I think it just kind wraps everything up, makes it look a lot more professional, and complete if you will. There's a bunch of different ways you could fasten these to whatever you're putting 'em on. I used some plastic rivets, being that this is plastic, and of course the inside of the boat here is aluminum, so I don't wanna worry about corrosion or nothing. But I suppose you could use regular screws, or some people said they even glued them on. And that's one of the awesome things about a setup like this. You know, you can really get creative, and use this just for a ton of different applications. With that said, you know, this one is obviously black in color. I picked that 'cause it kind of matches all my other wiring and stuff inside of here. But it's also available in white too, if that's going to match your application better. So if you are gonna be using this for your RV Valterra battery box, and you're looking for some of the other components, like the hose, and some of the other panels, and fittings, and things of that nature, we do carry all that stuff here. But if you're like me, and using this for a different application, you know the possibilities are pretty much endless. You know, I used it like this. We've seen people use these, put 'em in top of roof boxes, cargo boxes on the roof, to help promote a little airflow on them summer days. I had people put 'em in boxes where they have stereo equipment running, and things of that nature. So anywhere where you want to promote a little airflow, this should definitely help you get that done. And that will finish up our look-at of the Valterra battery box vent cover.

Awesome product !!!
Nice product
Cheap. Quick. Perfect match.
Well done. Easy peezy!
I bought these to vent a front compartment on our Jayco 5th wheel where we store a generator and fuel. The compartment is completely sealed so some ventilation was needed. The factory already had installed these vents at the battery compartments so these looked to be the same and were a perfect match. Everything looks "factory" and not aftermarket which is always my goal. Drilled a 3" diameter hole which allows 3/8" play for installation. Spray painted the heads of some sheet metal screws to match and couldn't have wished for a better install. I always check etrailer when I need something for the RV or truck. Their tutorials are so helpful and shipping is instant.
Great product, exactly what I was looking for. My roof tox box for windsurfing equipment was getting far too hot inside living on Maui. I placed 10 of the vents around the box by drilling a 2 1/2 inch hole and glewing the vents from the inside. This way I only have a clean hole showing from the outside and installation is very easy. Box is around 30 degreees F cooler now and air circultaion also takes care of the moisture.
Nice little vent for battery/electrical box. I also used this to put a vent in the floor near my tankless water heater.
They work as described!
