Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen, here @etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a look at the Pacer Performance Hi-Five LED Truck Cab Lights. These are going to be a great addition to any kind of vehicle that you want to have that big rig look for and make it a little bit more noticeable when you're out on the road.Especially if you're going to be driving a lot, going through inclement weather, fog, rain, snow, things like that. This is going to have that classic tapered design, a little more old school for you and it also has the metal chrome base. These look pretty slick, comes with the LED bulbs as well as the incandescence, so you can use whichever one is your preference.Personally, I would go more for the LEDs since they're going to be a bit longer lasting and more efficient, but it's up to you there. I'm going to show you guys how to get this set up and ready to go to be installed.
To get this in place on your vehicle, you will have to do some drilling unless you already have holes to mount these two, but most likely you won't unless you're replacing an old kit or something like that. But if you're adding it new to a vehicle, you do have to do some modifications, so just a heads up there. Basically, we're going to take one of these little spring and plate assemblies and that's going to drop down in there and that's going to be our contact point for our bulb to sit in there.I'm going to take one of my LED guys, pop that into place and it should just go down and turn about a quarter or an eighth of a turn and then it's locked in place. You can see, we have a little foam gasket around, the base where our lens goes. This doesn't exactly clip into place, you have to line it up by eye, grab one of the long machine screws and then tighten that down.I'm not going to tighten this down all the way, I just want to give you an idea of what it looks like illuminated. I'm also going to connect this to power in just a second.
But you'll probably need a actual screwdriver rather than using your finger like I'm trying to do. But that's basically the idea, is that, it's going to be looking like that. Then, if we take our red wire, that's going to be our power and the ground is going to go through the chrome. I'm going to ground out to the metal here. Whenever you put your hardware through, it should provide that a grounded connection through that gasket as well, so that'll be your condition there. But as you can see, that LED is nice and bright. It's not going to be so bright that we're going to blind anybody else in the road, it's not going to really create more light for the road to be more visible to us, it just makes us more visible to other people who drive around out on the road with us.
I'm going to turn the lights out in the studio, give you a better look at how that's going to look when it's mounted onto your vehicle.Nice and bright, amber colors, pretty traditional or typical for those clearance lights or those visibility lights. It's going to look the same for all five. The incandescent bulbs are going to be a little bit dimmer, if you decide to use those. Not so much that they're unusable, but just to note with those. We'll get our quick splice connectors. We can run all our wiring together.
Since your wiring is probably going to be going inside your vehicle, you don't really have to worry about any water contamination or water issues. With that quick splice, normally, I like to switch those out for something a little bit more durable. But since you're going to have one wire going between all five lights, those quick splices actually make that easy to do.The wire that you get here is going to be this length of red wire and then we'll also have another small length with a fuse and a fuse holder in line, so everything's going be fuse protected. One end of this goes into the back of the switch that's provided and then we'll have another spade there to go on the other side of that switch. With the switch, you can bypass your factory wiring and just have its own power source or power switch, so you don't have to worry about voiding any warranties on your vehicle, especially if it's a newer vehicle that you're putting this into. I mean, you're going to be drilling holes, so that might be a point in your warranty anyway. But a lot of times, doing anything with the electrical stuff, especially hard wiring, you're going avoid warranty. But if you are not worried about it or your vehicle doesn't have a warranty anymore, then no worries there. The other screws that we get are going to be to actually mount the metal foot to our vehicle and then these little rubber O-rings are going to be there to protect the mounting points from any water getting in place there. As long as you have everything mounted up pretty nice and tight and everything nice and snug, it should be okay. This edge along the back isn't really protected, there's no grommet right there, so I'm not sure that it would make a huge difference since there is a grommet going around this edge where it would actually get to the light. Then, we've got our big grommet going down over there. But if you want to pick up some silicone sealant for the mounting holes maybe, into your vehicle, it's not a bad idea. It's probably something that I would do. You can pick up silicone sealant right here @etrailer.com., if you're interested. This is a universal fit, it'll work on just about anything.I will point out that this base has a curved design, so it tapers down. Might be a little hard to see that there, but if we put on the table, you see it rocks. That's just because the belly there is a little hollowed out, so we'll follow the contour of your vehicle. Since we have this nice big pad, even if your vehicle is a more flat roof, it should still conform to it.But that's something to keep in mind there, if you're noticing a gap. That's just the design of those mounts. Those LEDs are replaceable. It's a bulb style of number 67, so if you want to replace those at any point, probably you shouldn't, since they are LEDs. It should last for a good long while, but that's going to be the volt style, again, for the incandescence as well. The overall length of our mounts here, about seven/ eight, seven inch long by about two and a half inches wide, roughly. Then the height, it's going to be tricky with our shade in place there. It's about two and three quarter inches tall. Overall, really nice looking system. I think these are some of the nicer looking of the cab lights. I like the old school look of these, that teardrop style, pretty beefy looking and I think they'll do a great job of lasted for a long time for you.But that's pretty much going to do it for our look at the Pacer Performance Hi-Five LED Truck Cab Lights. The product was good quality. BUT! I replaced my lights because they are on a 1997 and the gasket are old. It would have been really nice if the old lamp sockets fit in the new lens cover and maybe a little guidance with rewiring for the LED. It was no big deal but it would have nice to notify of how to retrofit old to new tech! I got it done and works well.
Look good on the truck, one of the center lights became loose so it was not making great contact and therefore was out. I got it working again, but it was a hassle taking the light off the truck to just spin the light a little bit.
fairly quick shipping..my truck has never had lights...but have installed them on every truck I've owned ( 4 ), This is my 5th. Everything was in the box. It even came with little washers for the screw heads. I used silicone just in case. I was very skeptical of the supplied ground wires but they all worked!!.. I decided on the old style bulbs this time. Might switch if they don't last then I will go to the LED's. I used a different toggle switch than the one supplied. Really like the set so far. I have never seen a truck like mine with cab lights. Maybe others will try it now?
These are great lights, I’m very happy with them and they are a perfect match to my 95 Ram
I like the classic style of the light they look simular to the add on lights from the 70"s pretty easy install comes with everything and the price is fair .
The Reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is as far as I know there is no replacement parts available so if one goes out or lens breaks etc you need the whole kit that's why I bought this 2nd kit my first still works great I bought them maybe four years ago but I'm painting my truck and needed to take the old ones off but the price is pretty good to just buy a new set .
Cab lights turned out great shipping was fast only thing I wish it came with was a template but measuring them out wasn’t that difficult thanks again
Just received the items today which was told to me they would arrive. You look very nice they have not installed them yet.
They look great, will be a nice addition to my 1976 GMC Motor Home.
Would like to get a set with red lenses for the Rear. Please
I was very surprised at the good quality of the cab lights at a fair price you have gained a repeat customer thank you
These were exactly what I was looking for and the quality is extremely great. I received my order fast and shopping the website was easy!
Great products, great service. The lights had all hardware parts and pieces. They look great on my 69 ford truck.
Well made and very satisfied with how they are made.Fast delivery. I am well pleased with the product.
The product was just what I ordered! I ordered a different set for my husband last year (not from this site) and it was a bad experience!! I received these lights very quickly which they also upgraded my shipping. The only downfall it was shipped in the original box which stated what it was. I give it 5 stars because I was lucky enough to get the package before my hubby saw it :)
we r all just average .
Package arrived completely opened on one end, and the container a little tattered, but everything seems to be intact and complete!
Great lights looks amazing on my GMC, i could not be happier. I had the installed as no one wants me wiring anything. The LED bulbs are nice and bright. I would recommend these lights to anyone.
Yay … THANK YOU JILL a Third time is a CHARM! … lol They are beautiful made in USA and exactly what I imagined for my 30 yr old truck. Unfortunately lights aren’t lining up with original overhead lights holes so I will have to move lights a tad closer towards the windshield…yes modifying time..woohoo should a fun modification and lovely new bright touch on this ole truck.
Haven’t installed yet wish me luck on this high boy.. lol
Asap I’ll share photos in future with etrailer Jill and team. Thanks you.
