Install a Companion fifth-wheel hitch in your truck bed with this custom kit. Better than a traditional mounting kit, this setup doubles as a gooseneck hitch when the fifth wheel is removed, and the underbed design allows for full bed access.

Gooseneck Specs:
With the B&W Turnoverball underbed gooseneck trailer hitch you get the best of both worlds. When you go to tow a gooseneck trailer, the Turnoverball creates a sturdy, dependable connection with your trailer. And when you're done towing, you can stow the ball upside down in the hitch to get full bed access and a clean appearance. When you're ready to tow your fifth wheel trailer, just install the Companion in the ball hole in place of the gooseneck ball and lock the post in place using the built-in handle. You can remove the fifth wheel when you're done towing, leaving your truck bed open once again.
Simple, Custom Installation
This kit is custom designed for your vehicle. The mounting brackets bolt to existing holes in your truck's frame. While some modification is required - you will need to cut a 4" diameter hole in your bed for the hitch ball and drill holes for the built-in safety chain loops - there is no need to weld onto or to drill into your frame.
Once you have the brackets and center section installed, set up the operating handle. This handle is designed to be accessed from the rear driver's-side wheel well. On the end of the handle is the heavy-duty steel pin that secures the mounting post of the Companion (or the base of the gooseneck hitch ball).

I love eliminating the 5th wheel hitch attach bars from the bed of my truck but really wish I had not selected this gooseneck option. I have had nothing but trouble, even to the point of having to replace this underfed unit once.
My biggest issue has been the sliding pin which holds the 5th wheel hitch in this turnover ball contraption - it bends easily so gets stuck in the hitch. Then once it's bent you cannot re-install the hitch. I always torque the retention bolt in the hitch to the specified torque with a torque wrench. This summer I finally decided to cut out the long pin with handle, trim it like a pin for a receiver hitch and drill holes for clips at each end. So I now crawl under the truck each time to install/remove this pin.
My second issue with this installation is that even once the pin is disengaged, the hitch is always jammed in this underfed structure, requiring lots of banging with a large rubber hammer to break it loose. After the first time I greased it, thinking that might be the issue but that has not helped.
I really wish I had chosen the 4 point underbed configuration instead!
I bought a B&W Companion slider for the truck and because at the time I knew less about 5th wheel hitching, I discovered a square peg doesn't fit in a round hole:) This is much better (and makes more sense, less chance of movement) than the round receiver that came in the truck. I installed this and the companion 5th wheel hitch. I love the way the hitch works for the most part. The problem I am having is with Bucking. When first installed it was fine. Now it seems that the runners on the side of the hitch have bent the bed of the truck, allowing the hitch to rock back and forth when I stop. It would be best if I could install a hitch like in the later model trucks with factory prep and wide spaced, strong supports.
Etrailer was great. although they did not have the Reese hitch I originally ordered in stock they called me the next day to discuss my options and I sure glad they did because I change to the B&W hitch re-ordered it on Tuesday and got it on Friday with free shipping.This hitch was very heavy duty and i was very impressed with the quality, and the design of the hitch (awesome). Love how the entire hitch is out of the bed for full access to the bed when not in use, that was a great design especially since I use my bed for construction everyday and full use of the bed was needed. The under the bed installation kit fit like a glove and the instructions were easy to follow. Working at Coca-Cola for 16 years as a mechanic working on 5th wheels was part of our routine and having the 2 piece full contact jaws was a must and they are about an 1" thick for even better contact with the king pin. I towed a 36 foot toy hauler the grosses at 16000 pounds and it has some weight behind it although it bounced a bit on rough roads it felt very solid and had no rattling. My tow vehicle is 2012 Ram 3500 diesel. If I had to choose again yes I would buy the same hitch and recommend it to you. It will probably take less time to install the second time around but it went good me and a worker installed everything including the wiring harness in about 4 hours. The wiring harness could have been about 5 feet shorter so you don't have so much extra wire, but I routed it the long way around just to take up the extra slack. Only question I would have is why they have you mount it on the bed spacers and not directly on the bed? Hitch has lots of adjustment up and down and forward and back which I will be moving now that I hooked it up to trailer I started in in the middle and now going to move it forward and down to level it more and maybe put a little bit more weight in front of the axle. Hitch went together super easy. The provided videos helped quite a bit so that when I went to put the hitch in I didn't need the instructions. I think it needs a cap to keep the hitch ball area clean when not in use.

B&W offers two different covers for use with your hitch. When the socket is completely empty, you can use part # BWGNXA1715. If you want a cover to use when the gooseneck ball is in the stored position you can use part # BWGNXA1710.

Great product glad I went this route. Took two hours to install, but you will need help holding it up while bolting it on.
I ordered the hitch online sight unseen. I rarely do this but after reading all the reviews on the hitch, and not just on etrailer.com, I didn't think I could go wrong. Almost every review I read about this hitch was between 4-5 star positive. I checked it over pretty thoroughly via pictures and being a certified mechanic I thought how hard could it be. Once I read over the instruction's one night I took on the job the next day. It took me 2hrs to install the hitch with the under bed rails. Very good instructions and installed flawlessly. It looked well built from what I could see. I can say though that I am impressed with etrailer.com's service. Their communication throughout the whole process has been great.
The hitch came in just a few days, UPS delivered it in great condition. I installed it in about an hour and a half with the help of a friend. Installation was straight forward. Watch the online videos and review the I-sheets. It doesn't get much easier. I haven't pulled a trailer with it yet but judging by the design it will work better than expected. I purchased this on the recommendation of 2 friends that use this system with the Companion Fifth Wheel. It is so much easier to remove the Companion than my previous hitch and have a completely unobstructed pick up bed to use. MADE IN THE USA...! What more could you want?
I love having my pickup bed un obstructed when I am not using my hitch system. I have not used the system yet, but I love how the system interfaces with the gooseneck to 5th wheel so easily.
I ordered the B&W Companion fifth wheel hitch for my 2012 Dodge 3500 duallly. All pieces arrived before scheduled date, have not installed yet so I'm assuming everything is all there. Very impressed with service, only issue was UPS scattered all boxes on the ground instead of stacking near my delivery point, no fault of etrailer!
I received my 5th wheel package very quickly. It was very easy to install with your instructions that were sent professionally in a envelope. I was dreading the install but it went very easily.

This thing is BEEFY strong, great directions. Only wonder is why not drill the 2 holes for the left side plate,to hold emergency cable bracket, in the factory 2 holes in the frame. Thanks for MADE in USA Quality a big plus!!

It is however misleading how the wiring kit is discussed but it's NOT included. I wanted a kit with everything. I thought that is what I was getting.

Heavy duty product. Paint quality is poor. Surface rust appeared on the edges of the steel plates shortly after install. Simple installation.
This Baby is really stout. Now I see how they can rate these for so much weight. Super easy to install, but be warned: These parts are VERY HEAVY and help is highly recommended (for the lifting). etrailer came through again. You guys ROCK!!

Install was simple, between paper instructions and on line videos anyone can assemble and install it themselves. Product appears to be high quality. I have not had a chance to tow with it therefore I cannot provide any feed back on that yet.

After a year its been great and flawless I sold the trailer and bought a bigger trailer and heavier 19000 pounds may need to upgrade the hitch to 22K :. Still like it still a great choice the buy.
