Question:

I have a 2012 Ram 3500 SRW with a BandW turnover ball. Trailer is a 2007 Keystone 34SAQ with Lippert 1621 King pin I was prepared to purchase the convert a ball goose neck adapter prior to reading this comment and would like clarification. Calling Keystone or any trailer manufacturer will get you an automatic noinch to most modifications to your trailer. Do you have data that backs up frame damage utilizing this adapter? What about a poorer quality ride? Why would this adapter provide more shock than another type cushioned hitch? Do you know of any structural failures utilizing the CAB-C5G you can point to? Ive read some of the horror stories posted on the internet but I have been unable to find any with pictures or data pointing to specific goose neck adapter failures. Obviously Im very concerned about damage to my trailer and possibly hurting someone if my trailer frame were to fail! Im not able to take the hitch in and out any longer and want an alternative. Please help?

That we are aware of there are no known horror stories from people using the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5G on a fifth wheel trailer. As long as you stay under the 20k capacity that this adapter has and install it properly you would be fine.

Another option you have since you have a B and W Turnover ball hitch part # BWGNRK1313-5W would be to use a B and W Companion Hitch like the # BWRVK3400-5W if you have a short bed truck or the # BWRVK3500-5W if you have a long bed.

The Companion hitch has a great reputation and I can guarantee will do a great job towing your trailer. This might be a better solution that would provide you with a little peace of mind over the # CAB-C5G and won't require any trailer modification.
