Question:
Will the Hitchmate Tire Step fit a 2004 Honda Cr-V? If the tire step is about 22inch wide, there may not be enough open space above the tire for me to hold the tire step in horizontal position and it over the tire. So ... if it cant go in there horizontally, is there room to slide it in there vertically and then turn it to the horizontal position? I definitely need a tire step to stand on when Im strapping my kayak to the roof rack. If the Hitchmate step is too wide, is there another brand that is narrower?

If you feel the frame of the HitchMate TireStep, part # HE4040 may not fit in the opening on your 2004 Honda CR-V, we may have another option that will work for you.
I recommend the Wheel Step, part # PT68ZR. This has an adjustable rail that slips over and behind the tire on your CR-V, so it should not be a problem at all getting it to fit securely. This tire step has a 300 lb weight capacity.
