Do Trim Panels have to be Removed to Install Trailer Wiring on a 2011 Toyota Camry
Published 07/03/2014 >
Question:
Is there a reason I cant plug the C56079 harness directly into the tail light wiring plug?I only use the trailer very little and I could just leave the wires exposed for short trips. The tail light can be accessed without removing the floor of the trunk

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Curt trailer wiring harness # C56079 plugs in line with the vehicle tail light wiring so if you can access the connectors at the back of the tail lights without removing any panels then that is fine as long as it is installed correctly. I have linked the instructions for you.
This harness also requires a direct connection to the vehicle battery to power the trailer lights. This is done so that the sensitive wiring on the vehicle is not overdrawn which could damage it. I have included a link to a video showing how the harness installs.
