What is the Brightest 6" Back Up Light and Why Aren't They Listed By Lumens?

Question:

How do I evaluate 6 inch backup lights when no lumen number is listed? Current truck bumper has two 16 diode lights but Im researching potential options that are brighter and have better light distribution. Thanks.

As you've figured out their not listed by lumens because the manufacturers do not offer that information. It has to do with them being DOT compliant and they list their brightness by diodes not lumens like you see in flashlights.

I'll be more than happy to make a recommendation for you. The Light Guide LED Backup Light for Truck/Trailer item # BUL602CB has eight diodes on the outside and four internal diodes. It's going to be our brightest back up light.

The Optronics item # BUL602CB measures 6-1/2" long x 2-3/8" tall x 1-3/4" deep and mounts with the PVC Grommet for 6-1/2" Oval Trailer Tail Lights item # A70GB. You'll need the Right Angle 3-Wire Pigtail for Optronics Trailer Lights item # A47PB.

Additionally, I saw you were looking at the Westin HDX Bandit Rear Off-Road Bumper item # W23PF. The Optronics LED Backup Light item # BUL602CB is the same light that comes with this bumper.

What year is your truck?

It's a 2014 F250 with a Westin HDX Bandit Bumper but the light that came with the bumper is different than the BUL602CB. Current light has 16 diodes.

@Ben Sounds like it's going to be quite a bit brighter then.
