Can Andersen Ultimate Be Used With Offset Gooseneck Ball?

Updated 05/07/2025 | Published 02/21/2025

Question:

Can I use this offset gooseneck ball with the Anderson Hitch? The offset ball will add additional 4” of clearance and the Anderson Hitch looks like it offsets a bout 3-4” too. I have a short bed and need all the safety/additional clearance for peace of mind to not hit my truck…but… I don’t want to risk safety towing

Hey Wade, thanks for getting in touch. The Andersen Ultimate Hitch can be used with an offset gooseneck ball. This has been confirmed with Andersen.

Do these Anderson hitches work with B&W systems? Also, can I remove the ball from the Anderson hitch and put on a weigh safe ball?

@Wade Hey Wade, Yes, the Andersen Ultimate will work with a B&W Turnoverball gooseneck. I do not recommend swapping out the ball for a weigh safe. You will want to use the ball that comes with the Andersen hitch.

I have seen conflicted answers on this question. another expert, Mike l said the Anderson can be used with an offset ball, confirmed with Anderson. Your response says it should not. I am trying to figure out if these answers are talking about different things or if I’m misunderstanding something from one of you. Any assistance is appreciated

@Michael Hey Michael. If Anderson has confirmed it to be ok I will take their word for it. I believe when I wrote that answer I was basing it on the fact that other similar adapters cannot be used with offset balls. Sorry for any confusion. I will edit the answer above.

@JesseM no worries appreciate the response. It’s always a gamble when making sure what I am thinking is the same thing the other person is thinking. I did email Anderson and was told it would work, but you need a shorter hitch coupler because the off set ball sits higher than the standard
