Troubleshooting Curt A25 Fifth Wheel Hitch that Has Stuck Latch

Question:

I have a Curt A25 hitch to tow my 13K Rockwood 5th wheel. My problem is the handle on the hitch does not move to secure the latch. It was doing very well but lately I have been having this problem. I thought it might be the Curt Wedge was causing the problem but this occurs with and without the wedge. I have talked with the expertsinch at Curt and get very little help. They respond but not with many answers that help or answer all my questions. I am going to take the skid plate off and totally lubricate the components in the hitch head. Suggestions??? I purchased the hitch from you folks back in 2021. Is a new head component answer? If so, how much and how long. Got to get out there.

Hey Mark that is a bummer to hear. Have you been lubricating it at all this time? I know it's easy to forget to do that but if you do skip the components can get frozen up and hard to use. So I would go with your next plan and grease it up real nice like and I would be willing to bet it will work again.

Worst case scenario we do have a replacement head unit for the A25 with the part #C16580.

Your bet paid off. You are right, I had forgotten to grease it. Did that and yes, it worked. Onto the next problem. Thanks for your help. Curt Factory rep was little to no help.
