Hey Keith,

The Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch System # AM3200 can technically be used to connect to a gooseneck trailer, but the ball would sit much higher than normal because it's designed to make up the difference in height that a 5th wheel hitch would cover. If you have base rails the better option would be the Curt Spyder Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Fifth Wheel Rails # 16085. This would mount into the base rails and give you a gooseneck ball attachment point.

@KeithR It's outside of the intended use so if you did have an issue you would likely be liable. I've seen quite a few of these hitches fail when being used with a 5th wheel trailer like the manufacturer intended so I personally would not recommend it. If height is an issue then there are other options like a high-rise hitch ball, lowering the trailer, etc. that we could take to ensure your trip is a safe one. Does your vehicle have base rails installed already or would you be able to install a gooseneck hitch?

@KevinC maybe a fifth wheel hitch an a gooseneck adapter that locks in the king pin would be the best way to go thanks for your input

@KeithR There are gooseneck to king pin adapters, like the # KPG5-R30IP, that could be used to connect to a 5th wheel hitch. We'd need to get some more info on your trailer in order to find the right fit though.
