Solution for Brake Actuator on 3-1/2" Trailer Tongue
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I’m looking for a on replacement hitch/surge brake with electric lockout but my trailer tongue measures 3.5” in width. I’m only seeing them up to 3”. Is there a compatible hitch that will handle up to 6k that will fit? Ball size doesn’t matter and a higher weight load is fine.

For a brake actuator that will fit your 3-1/2" tongue you will need a weld-on model. None of the bolt-on will fit a 3-1/2" tongue as you said. I recommend the Dexter DX7.5L A-60XL # DX43FR if you have disc brakes or the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 # DX53FR for drum brakes. These are technically listed for a 3" wide tongue as well but that won't matter with welding. Make sure to take them to a certified welder for installation. You will also need to add the # T4748800 if you're getting the drum brake version since it does not come with an electric lockout.
