Recommended Trailer Jack for a Jayco Jay Flight 174BH Travel Trailer

Updated 01/29/2024 | Published 01/27/2024

Question:

I am looking to buy an electric jack for my Jayco 174bh. I am not sure how strong a jack I need. The trailer GVWR is 3950 and I use a blueox weight distribution hitch. Any advice gladly accepted!

In order to find out a jack for your Jayco, you're going to need to know what your trailer's tongue weight is and pick a jack that can support that weight rating.

Since your Jayco has a GVWR of 3,950 lbs (and tongue weight is 10-15% of the GVWR), that puts your range at 395-592 lbs tongue weight roughly. If you actually know your tongue weight that would be the best case, but since we don't at the moment this'll work too.

So with that said, the Stromberg Carlson Electric A-Frame Tongue Jack # JET-2500 would be what I'd go for. This jack has way more capacity than you need truthfully, with a load capacity of 2,500 lbs, but it is our lowest rated electric jack.
