Troubleshooting A Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock Actuator That's Constantly Running On A Honda Ridgeline

Question:
Concerning remotely operated Pop and Lock tailgate lock PL8600 for 2011 Honda Ridgeline: I installed the lock as per website instructions using the thicker of the yellow/black and yellow/green wires in the harness and the lock works fine until I start the vehicle. When the vehicle is running the actuator starts very rapidly vibrating in and out and won’t stop until ignition is turned off or the actuator is unplugged. I noticed during the wire splicing process that there are also skinnier versions of the above-mentioned wires in the harness… could these be the ones I should have used or would that make a difference? There was no mention of which thickness of wires to use. Any insight would be much appreciated… Thanks! Cheers, Mitch

I spoke with Pop & Lock and their tech said that this definitely sounds like you're spliced into the wrong wires and that the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL8600 is receiving constant power once the vehicle is on, which is why the actuator is constantly running. You'll want to make sure that the wires you splice into are only receiving power when the switch/button is pressed to lock and unlock the tailgate.
