Troubleshooting E1 Error Code on Furrion Tankless Water Heater

Question:

I have a 2023 Jayco Jay Flight 212QB. Im having an issue with my tankless water heater. Straight Gas water heater, no electric option. When I use hot water in the bathroom sink it works, but when I use hot water in the Kitchen Sink it throws an E1 code every time. If I turn on the bathroom sink hot water and once the water heater kicks in, then as the bathroom hot is still running I can turn on the kitchen hot water, then I can turn off the bathroom and the kitchen will continue to produce hot water. I took it to the dealer and they fixed it. I did confirm it worked before I left but the next trip we went on it did the same as I stated above. Crazy! Thanks

The E1 fault on a Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR93FR means you need to check that all your gas valves are open, that you have enough propane in your tanks, and that your regulator is working properly. If your regulator is needing to be replaced then you need part # 108221 for a horizontal option or part # 108220 for a vertical option.

If you or the dealer has checked all of this and there are still issues then Furrion states there is a system fault and you need to reach out to them directly. Since this is a brand new RV I recommend trying to work through your dealer with this.

I just bought a 2024 Jayco 212QB and having the same E1 error when using the kitchen sink hot water. Bathroom and outdoor shower hot water works fine. The tankless water heaters require a minimum water flow to work correctly. Too low of flow will cause E1 error code. I removed the kitchen faucet aerator flow restrictor and with more water flow no more E1 errors! The original red colored aerator is rated at 2.2 GPM but with the lower water pressure of the RV pump there is not adequate flow at the kitchen sink for the tankless water heater to work correctly. I ordered 4.4 GPM aerators from Amazon and hope this resolves the problem. The reduced water flow to the kitchen sink is also related to the way Jayco did the water piping. Instead of going with a manifold water piping design they went cheap and multiple tees off of one 1/2” pex tube. Each pex fitting reduces water flow and the kitchen sink is at the end of the line so reduced flow!
