Can A Propane Regulator Be Replaced With Another That Has A Different BTU Rating
Question:
I have a Marshall 250 Im looking to replace also. I see you recommended this model, but the Btu ratings are way different?

Essentially each regulator is going to give you an 11" WC (pressure rating) but the amount of BTU's (in this case we'll say fuel) can differ greatly. The JR Products Regulator # 37207-30395 is giving you 345,000 BTU's per hour at 11" WC of pressure to use.
Most RV related appliances that run off of propane require 11" WC of pressure just to operate, but each appliance will burn a different amount of BTU's. You can always go higher than than what you actually need for all of your appliances but you won't want to go under. You most likely won't use every single gas burning appliance at once but in the event that you're running multiple (water heater, fridge, stove/oven, etc.) you'd want to have a high enough BTU rated regulator to supply enough fuel.
The 345,000 BTU rating of the # 37207-30395 is on the higher end of what we carry so you'd most likely never come close to maxing it out, but you could just add up the BTU ratings for each appliance in your trailer to see what you'd be using if each were in use at the same time. A typical 30lb propane tank stores about 649,980 BTU's, if that adds a bit a clarity to how much you could use with this regulator.
It can all be a bit confusing so if you have any other questions please feel free to ask another question through our ask the expert link right below my name.
