Will I be able to open the trunk/hatch with the bike rack attached to the suv without the bicycles?

No, you will not be able to open the hatch on your 2018 Honda CR-V with the Yakima HangOut 3 Bike Rack # Y02638 attached, even with the bikes unloaded. We do not have a 3 bike trunk rack that fits your 2018 Honda CR-V and would allow you to open your hatch with the rack installed.
