How To Determine The Correct Lippert Ground Control 3.0 Leveling System For Your 5th Wheel

Question:

A 4-point would be sufficient for our camper, but I have the room to mount the 6-point, is there enough of a gain stabilization to put the work into the 6-point to install that one since the cost difference is minimal? I could also retain the existing manual rear stabilizers which could be used to supplement stabilization. Also, in the case of a rear jack sustaining damage, could a mid jack be moved to the back and and the other mid jack disconnected to operate the system as a 4-point system with a 6-point controller? So essentially, would a 6-point controller operate a 4-point system?

Determining the correct Lippert Ground Control 3.0 Leveling System is going to depend on the length of the frame. These stabilizers push on the frame when leveling your trailer which creates stress on the frame. Too much stress due to lack of stabilizers can bend or crack the frame or damage the stabilizers.

If there will be 20' or less between the center of the landing gear footpad and the center of the rear jack footpad you would need the 4-Point # LC358590. If your setup requires more than 20' between the jacks, use the 6-point # LC675817 system instead.

The middle and rear jacks are the same length so mixing them up would do nothing but give you issues when it comes to controlling the jacks and how they communicate. You'd need to purchase a replacement rear jack and connect it to avoid stress to the frame or communication errors.

I also don't recommend mixing this system with your old one either since this motorized system auto levels and could try fighting your old stabilizers if you forget to pick them back up.

I recommend measuring your frame and choosing the correct system based on the measurement you find.
