Replacement Tire Recommendation for a B78-13 Trailer Tire

Updated 07/18/2022 | Published 07/15/2022

Question:

I’m looking for replacement tires for an old boat. They are B78-13. Looks like a 6.00/6.50” rim. Looking at your site it appears there’s no such thing as a 6.00 wide 13” tire anymore. What are my best alternatives? It’s a 4 hole rim 2.80. I was thinking a C or D rated 13” would be my best bet. I have some 4 hole 13” rims and B rated tires I got from E trailer not long ago that could work? Thanks

Yes, your Loadstar ST175/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire with 13" Galvanized Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range B # AM3S040 would be a great option for replacing the tires on your boat trailer. The 4 on 4" bolt pattern can be verified by measuring center to center of opposite bolt holes and then you just need to check that the 1,100 lb load range B rating is high enough for your boat and trailer combined. Please note you'll combine the weight rating of both tires so altogether you're looking at 2,200 lbs. An easy way to know you're safe is to make sure the combined rating of the tires meets or exceeds that of the trailer axle.

If you need something else just let me know!
