The steps listed to transition into neutral tow mode in the online owner's manual for a 2021 Jeep Wrangler are as follows:
1. Bring the vehicle to a complete stop on level ground.
2. Press and hold the brake pedal.
3. Shift the automatic transmission into NEUTRAL or press the clutch pedal on a manual transmission.
4. Turn the engine off.
5. Shift the transfer case lever into (N) Neutral.
6. Start the engine.
7. Shift the transmission into REVERSE.
8. Release the brake pedal (and clutch pedal on manual transmissions) for five seconds and ensure that there is no vehicle movement.
9. Repeat steps seven and eight with automatic transmission in DRIVE or manual transmission in FIRST gear.
10. Turn the engine off
To flat tow your 2021 Jeep Wrangler you'll need to a tow bar, base plate, tow bar wiring kit, braking system, and safety cables. If you haven't purchased these items then I have the following recommendations for you:
Tow Bar: Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates # e74ZR. This tow bar is specifically designed to fit Roadmaster direct-connect base plates. It features non-binding latches and telescoping, self supporting arms that make connecting and disconnecting your Jeep on any terrain a breeze. It has an adjustable head that tilts up or down 3" and the shank has a built-in 1-1/2" rise or drop to keep tow bar parallel with road while towing without the use of a high/low hitch adapter. It also comes with safety cables included.
Base Plate: Roadmaster Direct-Connect style base plate # RM-521453-5. These will allow you to attach to your tow bar without the need for any adapters. The arms are removable as well to offer you a clean factory look while not in use.
Note: These base plates are only compatible with factory bumpers. If you have an aftermarket bumper let me know and we can find the correct fit for you.
For the braking system I recommend the Brake Buddy Stealth Supplemental Braking System # HM39530. This system offers fully proportional braking with a system that never has to be removed, replaced, or reset. The actuator installs out of sight and remains virtually invisible when your car isn't being towed. The controller also doubles as a trailer brake controller to allow you to tow a trailer with your motorhome without having to install another brake controller. The included charge line kit will prevent you from arriving at your destination with a dead battery.
Since the # HM39530 comes with an adapter cable and vehicle side socket all you'll need is the diodes and wiring which you can get with the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-152.
If you have ParkSense Proximity Sensors you'll need the Roadmaster Wiring Kit with Smart Diodes for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights # RM47ZR instead.
Safety Cables: Since the # e74ZR already has safety cables included you won't need to purchase any separately.
