Question:
What is the difference between the Curt CU89FR and the EcoHitch EH34FR for a 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon?

Expert Reply:
With both the Draw-Tite # DT73RR and the EcoHitch # EH34FR for your 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon, the installation will require you to temporarily remove the bumper/fascia. I recommend the Powerbuilt Trim Pad Remover # ALL648544 to help you with removing those pieces. Also, the ground clearance of both of the hitches measures 15-1/2 inches from the ground to the inside of the upper tube of the receiver.
For the differences, the Draw-Tite has a maximum weight tongue weight capacity of 675 pounds and a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 4,500 pounds while the EcoHitch has a maximum tongue weight of 525 pounds and a trailer weight capacity of 3,500 pounds. When considering weight capacity, it is important to consult with your vehicle's user's manual to make sure you adhere to the capacities listed. Both hitches measure 2 inches from the center of the pinhole to the face of the receiver tube. This measurement is important if you are concerned about bumper clearance issues with hitch-mounted accessories.
With all things considered, I recommend the Draw-Tite # DT73RR because of the increased weight capacity for a more economical price. If you need help with the installation of the hitch, I included a walkthrough video of the process.
