Question:
Hi, I have read through multiple QandA on the door switch. Im still stumped. I recently purchased a 1999 Thor industries West Pinnacle. The steps werent working so I replaced the motor from the steps on my old RV. I only replaced the motor. The steps go up when the ignition is turned on as they should but they are opposite when the door is closed or opened. In other words they retract when the door is open and extend when its closed. I got the original motor working and put it back on and its doing the same thing. Im stumped at why the original motor would be backwards as well. I do have to use an actual magnet to get them to do anything so clearly its a switch issue. They are the 32 series with the round flush magnet. How do I find out if I have the open or closed switch so I can order the opposite. It has the square controller with the 2 mounts on one side and 1 mount on the other. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also if I end up ordering the wrong one can it be returned for the other? Im trying to avoid that issue though. Thanks again.

The original steps all came with the open switch originally so I would assume that it's the original configuration and that nothing has been previously replaced.
If you just want to swap out the magnets, the opposite magnets that are normally closed are available with the Replacement Door Switch for Lippert Electric Coach Step # LC301694. This would reverse the functioning of the steps as they currently work.
