If your Kwikee steps intermittently retract or extend and you're also hearing a clicking noise there could either be a missing a tooth (or teeth) on the gears, or it could also be the motor. It also could just be a wiring connection issue. I do recommend checking your gears and making sure that the wiring is in good working order and all of the connections (including the ground wire) are still strong.
If everything checks out on those two items, it seems most likely that there is an issue starting up with the motor and it would be a good idea to look at replacing that. When choosing the correct replacement you will need to get the correct motor based on the part number of your current motor- for example, the Kwikee 25 Series use the Replacement Motor with Table for Kwikee 25 Series Electric RV Steps # LC379804.
I've gone ahead and linked our entire selection of motors for you to have a look at but if you'd like to provide the part number you find on your motor I'm happy to help you locate the correct part.
