Towing Capacity for 2011 Subaru Forester With Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver
Question:
Hi there, I have a Subaru Forester 2011 with manual transmission. I purchased this hitch a year or two ago: 75650. We are moving and Im trying to make sure I understand all the towing capacity correct as Im looking a pulling a Uhaul trailer. Likely this size: 6 x 12 Cargo Trailer. Thoughts?

I checked the owner's manual in regards to the towing capacity of your 2011 Subaru Forester, and it states that the maximum towing capacity is 1,000 lbs if the trailer does not have brakes or 2,400 lbs if the trailer does have brakes. So that is the maximum you can tow with your Forester and the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75650.
Even though this hitch has a 4,000 lb capacity, you have to abide by the lowest-rated capacity when towing so either 1,000 lbs or 2,400 lbs depending on the trailer.
Keep in mind, if you don't have one you will also need a trailer wiring harness for your 2011 Forester, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118467.
You will also need a ball mount like the etrailer Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 3/4" Rise or 2" Drop # 989891
If you aren't sure if this is the right rise or drop I have added an article detailing how to determine that. I have also added links to some video reviews for you to check out.
