Do Top Straps of Yakima FullBack Need to be in Anchor Mode to Install on 2017 Chrysler Pacifica
Question:
It appears I have to use the anchoring method for the top straps on my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. Correct? This entails open back hatch an placing the hooks inside the van?

That is correct, you will want to install the top straps of the Yakima FullBack 3 Bike Rack # Y02633 using the anchor method for your 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. I've installed this rack that way a few times and I found it easier to remove the hooked strap, feed the strap through the hook as outlined in the instructions (see attached), and then feed the strap up through the crack at the top of your hatch instead of trying to push the hook down from outside of the vehicle.
I actually had the opportunity to install the now discontinued HalfBack on a 2020 Audi Q7 which uses the same configuration. If you jump to the 2:38 minute mark of this video you can also see how to route the strap through the hook. The HalfBacl was the same as the FullBack except for color and locks so it would install the same way. I have also included a video of the FullBack for you to see.
