Question:

Hello. I have the 2019 Toyota Tacoma without a tow package. Trying to find the best way to add a 7-Way and brake controller for towing a trailer with brakes. Is there a full kit for the wiring or do I need to piece a couple things together like what I see from a few other questions/customers. Thank you for your help!

We have exactly what you need!

For just the wiring portion for your 2019 Toyota Tacoma I highly recommend the Tekonsha OEM Vehicle Wiring Harness # 22117. This is an all-in-one wiring kit that includes everything needed to install a fully functional 7-Way connector, along with a harness for installing a Tekonsha brake controller. It will plug into ports behind the truck's tail lights for the trailer's basic signal light functions and you will use the additional wiring to run the 12V hot lead up to the battery and also tie into a brake controller.

I have attached the written installation manual below that you can also look through.

Then for the brake controller itself I recommend the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 that offers excellent proportional braking, continuous diagnostics, and 3 boost levels to choose from so you can fine tune your braking aggressiveness. The Custom Adapter # 3031-P can be added to simplify the install process to a plug-and-play application.
