Your trailer should have an ID tag on the trailer tongue that lists the VIN as well as the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) which is the maximum the trailer plus its cargo can weigh.
If the trailer doesn't list the GVWR on the ID tag, or if it's missing you can determine how much the trailer can carry bu identifying the trailer's axle capacity. A 6x12 trailer would typically have a 3500 lb axle, but there are several clues you can look for that would confirm this. A 3500 lb axle would usually use a hub with a 5 lug on 4-1/2 inch bolt circle. 3500 lb axles typically use a L68149 inner and a L44649 outer bearing, or sometimes a L44649 inner and outer.
Sometimes the diameter of the axle tube can give us a clue to the capacity. A 1-2K axle would be around 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 inches in diameter. A 3500 lb axle is usually 2-3/8 inches in diameter.
But probably the easiest way to find the capacity is to examine the axle tube for its ID tag, which should identify the capacity.
With a 3500 lb axle, the trailer plus its cargo shouldn't weigh more than 3500 lbs.
