Does Towing Capacity for 2014 Honda CR-V Change with Passengers
Updated 07/01/2019 | Published 06/30/2019 >
Question:
Hi, I saw a post on this site that mentioned the 2014 CRV is capable of towing 1500 lbs. Does this include any of the weight inside the vehicle? If not, how much additional cargo can I store in the vehicle I know I must account for fuel and passenger weight. I’ve also read a lot about the problems with exceeding towing capacity - what if it is only exceeding by 150 lbs? Thank you

Expert Reply:
The towing capacity of your 2014 Honda CR-V is independent of additional weight in the vehicle from passengers, cargo, or fuel. The 1,500 lb capacity is a conservative figure they came up with that allows you to have a normal amount of weight in your vehicle without requiring the figure to be changed.
The Draw Tite hitch part # 36520 that you referenced is a confirmed fit and would work great for your 2014 Honda CR-V. I attached an install video for you to check out too.
