Can 2018 Honda CR-V Go Over Towing Capacity

Updated 06/03/2019 | Published 05/31/2019

Question:

Towing capacity on Honda 2018 CRV. I might be 100 pounds over the Max towing capacity on my CRV. Is that a major problem with braking etc?

You will need to stay within the towing capacity of your 2018 Honda CR-V; I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual and it stated that the maximum capacity is 1,500 lbs. It further went on to say that towing more than that can "seriously affect vehicle handling and performance and can damage the engine and drivetrain" so you absolutely should follow the 1,500 lb capacity.

Keep in mind that you are limited by the lowest-rated component or capacity for your vehicle so even if you used the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch # 76128 that fits your '18 CR-V and has a towing capacity of 4,500 lbs and 675 lbs of tongue weight you are limited to 1,500 lbs of towing capacity.
