Left Side LED Trailer Stop and Turn Light Not Working on a 2008 Interstate Low Pro Cycle Trailer

Question:

I just purchased from a aution a Interstate enclosed low pro cycle trailer. 2008 model year.he problem is that all of the lights work inside and out except the left side brake and turn, It has 2 LED strips style stacked. We have switched them right side to the left side with no cure and have 2 different trucks hooked to the unit and the problem remains the same on both trucks. Any ideas would help.

Since the lights from the left side work on the right when switched and the working lights from the right are not working on the left side, the lights have been eliminated as the source of the problem, unless the ground on the left side is not sufficient. I would check the left side ground and make sure it is attached to clean metal on the trailer frame.

If that does not solve the issue, start at the truck and disconnect the trailer. Then, with a circuit tester # PTW2993, make sure that the left turn and brake signal are active on the truck. This will verify that the truck is not the issue, even though you tried two different trucks.

Once the truck is eliminated as the source of the problem, check the left turn and brake wire exiting the trailer connector, usually yellow. If the yellow wire does not have power where it exits the connector with the brake or turn signal activated then you will need to check the connector wiring for corrosion, a disconnected wire, or a short circuit on the left turn/brake circuit.

If the connector is eliminated as the source, you would need to test the left turn/brake wire back to the lights on the back of the trailer until the point where the wire is losing power.
