What is Minimum Clearance Between Gooseneck Trailer Overhang and Truck Bed Rails
Updated 04/08/2019 | Published 04/06/2019 >
Question:
What is the recommended clearance distance between the bottom of a gooseneck trailer nose and the top of the sides of a truck bed? Recently purchased a 2019 F-450 which is taller than our old truck and have a 2018 Sundowner LQ horse trailer which is approx 60 inches high when level and measured from the ground up to the bottom of the side of the nose. Thanks!

The recommended minimum clearance between gooseneck trailer overhang and truck bed rails is 4-6 inches. I'd recommend 6 inches but a lot of people get by with just 4. Ideally you have at least 6 inches of clearance and the trailer is sitting totally level.
