Do All Rooftop Air Conditioners Have a Continuous Low-Speed Fan Running All the Time
Question:
A while back I had a small travel trailer with a non-ducted AC unit. It functioned fine, but the thermostat did not turn off the fan when the desired cooling was achieved. It kept the fan running even if the compressor was not needed. Do all of the non-ducted AC units function this way or do they turn off the fan when not needed.

I cannot speak for all non-ducted rooftop air conditioner but I do know the Atwood Air Command Rooftop RV Air Conditioner has the low-speed continuous fan setting you are referring to and I also know some do not. The reason for this Atwood continuous fan is that the sensor for the thermostat is located in the return air side and the fan needs to suck air through the system in order for air to pass over the sensor. Once the air falls above or below what you have your thermostat set to, the high speed fan will kick on and the compressor will run. The good news is that the amp draw on the low speed fan is very low, less than 3 amps.
If you would like a unit that does not have this low-speed continuous fan setting then you will want to use the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part # ACM135C which also comes with a start capacitor for less drain on the battery upon startup. I have attached a list of all our rooftop air conditioners for you as well.
