Installing the Shank Bolts on the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System
Question:
As I was tightening the bolts to my shank with 250 foot bound torque wrench one of the conical tooth washer became flat before I heard the click of 250 pressure. Is the washer damaged? Also is it normal that one shank bolt looks to be tightened at least a 1/4 inch further then the other? Im using a e2 fastway 4 point round bar weight distribution.

Expert Reply:
The conical tooth washers for the shank bolts on the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System should collapse before you get to the 250 ft. lb. mark on your torque wrench. Therefore, this does not seem like a problem based on what you described. However, there should not be a 1/4" difference between the amount of remaining threads on either bolt. They should both be relatively the same. I recommend having your torque wrench calibrated to ensure you are receiving 250 ft. lbs. on each bolt.
I would also note that the two shank bolts will only be tightened by hand the first time around because you will need them loose in order to adjust the head tilt. The final go around is where you will need to torque them both down to 250 ft. lbs. There should also be a nut on one side and a bolt on the other like what you see in the attached photo.
