Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for Carrying an E-Bike with a 2016 Land Rover Range Rover

Updated 07/25/2018 | Published 07/24/2018

Question:

Hi There, I need a hitch, a hitch receiver, and a rear bike rack for a 2016 Range Rover Land Rover, but I dont want to break the bank. The bike Im looking to hitch is an e-bike, so slightly larger and heavier than others. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Thank you for the picture! Based off of that it looks like your 2016 Land Rover Range Rover is either an Evoque or a Sport. If you have an Evoque then I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13128 but if you have the Sport use the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13243.

Both options give you what you need to carry a hitch mount bike rack but a stabilizer strap like part # 18050 must be used for non-trailer products (like a bike rack) to keep in accordance with the Curt warranty.

For a compatible bike rack that will do a great job carrying your E-Bike I have a few options. The most cost-effective is the RockyMounts MonoRail # RKY10007. This is a single bike carrier that can carry a bike weighing up to 60 lbs. This bike rack comes with both a bike and a hitch lock to deter theft plus it can fold for rear clearance and tilt for rear hatch access.

If you will possibly need to carry 2 bikes then I recommend the Yakima HoldUp # Y02443. This has the same features as the MonoRail except that it can carry up to 2 bikes weighing in at 60 lbs each. The only way that either of these bike racks won't work is if your E-Bike has a front fender. They secure the bike(s) by the wheel so that no frame contact is made which is great unless a fender is involved.

Let me know what the model of your bike is if it has a fender and I can make a different recommendation if need be. I have attached review videos of both bike racks for you to check out as well.
