Recommended Trailer Wiring Conversion for 2017 Tri Glide Compatibility
Question:
I have a 2017 Tri Glide. Open Road Outfitters has 2 wiring harnesses - a 4-pin with outputs as follows: White=Ground, Green=Running, Yellow=Right/Brake and Brown=Left/Brake. A 5-pin separate brake lights and turn signals with outputs as follows: White=Ground, Blue=Brake Light, Green=Running, Yellow=Right Turn and Brown=Left Turn. My trailer has a rectangular 6-pin plug, with wiring as follows: Yellow=Left Turn, Brown=Running Green=Right Turn, White=Ground, Red=Brake Lights, Blue=Accessory. Please advise which wiring harness I need to buy - the 4 pin or the 5 pin - as the best option for my situation and what is needed to complete the connection to my trailer. Thanks you so much, and I look forward to hearing from you.

It sounds like your trailer has the connection similar to the 6-Pole Square Trailer Wiring Connector Kit (Car and Trailer Ends) # 37995. My recommendation is to use the 5 pin separate brake lights and turn signals connector you mentioned for your Tri-glide and then use the Hopkins Endurance 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector - Trailer End - Ergonomic Design # HM47910 on your trailer side. I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to match functions as your colors won't match. You can then use Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector - 16-14 Gauge - Nylon Insulation - Blue - Qty 5 # DW05744-5 to make your connections tight and weather proof.
