Will a trailer hitch from a 2006 Ford Escape xlt awd fit on a 2013 Ford Edge sel?

You will need a new for your 2013 Ford Edge as there isn't a way to install a hitch from an older Escape on it. The vehicles are quite a bit different.
For that you would want the Draw Tite # 75992 which is a confirmed fit and would work great. It's a 2 inch hitch with plenty of capacity plus a concealed cross tube.
