Recommended Kayak Carrier for 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Hardtop

Question:

Hi. Im looking to purchase a kayak rack for my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Hardtop. Im not crazy about the idea of drilling into the roof, but I will if thats whats needed. Can you recommend a brand/model thats a good value and the best fit for my Jeep? Please tell me all the parts I need to order if there are multiple things needed to install this. Thanks!

If your 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Hardtop has a roof without any existing side rails or crossbars, I recommend first installing the Thule Square Bar Roof Rack. This system consists of # TH712500 for the two 60 inch Square Load Bars and # TH65BJ for the Thule Gutter Feet. I like this particular roof rack because it uses a clamp-style attachment to secure itself onto the roof, meaning no drilling will be required during installation.

I have included a video demonstration for this rack on the 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited so you can see exactly how it will install and look on your vehicle.

Then with the roof rack installed, I recommend looking at the Thule Hull-A-Port Kayak Carrier # TH834. These are J-style cradles that will transport 1 kayak on its side using the roof rack crossbars. They feature quick on/off hardware for simple installation and removal and a rust-resistant coating to ensure durability. This carrier also includes 2 tie-down straps with padded buckles and 1 set of bow/stern tie-downs for securing your kayak.
