Wheel and Tire Recommendation for Tear Trailer Built on Harbor Freight Haul Master
Published 11/15/2016 >
Question:
I have a Custom tear based on the Harbor Freight Haul Master 1195 lb. Capacity 48 in. x 96 in. Heavy Duty Folding Trailer. I own both a 2015 KIA Soul and a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee TSi Currently I own 4 extra 16x6.5 rims with a 5x4.5 bolt pattern 1 of which is my full size KIA spare and the remaining 3 are unused I was contemplating using them all as a complete set trailer and car. Will this work even though the max wheel size is 15 inch or would you suggest an alternate adaption to this part? How would the extra inch effect the performance or safety? Secondly I was contemplating this part with a pair of Pro Comp Steel Wheels Series 51 Wheel with Gloss Black Finish 15x8/5x4.5 with a set of Goodyear Wrangler Radial Tire - 235/75R15 105S to match what is already on my Jeep if these would fit then I have to buy new rims and so on whereas with the 16 inch rims I already have them. I am trying to figure out the best possible route and what all would be needed to make one of the two options work and of the two options which would be the most practical and safe I will not be hauling anything over 1500 pounds but will be going over 12000 miles so would like the ability to have matching spares of just one size tire.

For a trailer you have to use wheels specifically designed for trailer. Passenger vehicle wheels and tires are not rated for trailer so they should not be used.
Best option we have would be the part # A225R645WM which is a 225/75-15 radial tire mounted to a 15-inch wheel with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. This tire also has a higher than usual speed rating for trailer tires at 81 mph.
